Iandar's Review!

We have just returned from the Black Isle and have had a great and relaxing time.

The weather was spot on apart from a shower on the last day, when we were taking the tent down.

The VRX5.0i is the best tent we have ever owned! We did however find that you needed to attach the storm guys first as we pitched the tent in 30mph winds (chaps get the missus to lay on the tent here ) but once all the outer poles (steel) are in there colour coded sleeves and clipped on, the tent is pulled up into place. (This tent needs two to erect it)

The pegging is very easy on the outer (the camp site we stayed at Rosemarkie has stone’s just below the surface so you need to go on at about 30deg) and most of the work holding down the outer is done by the guide ropes (lots of them for windy sites)

We always put a large ground sheet down to protect the inner from thorns; sharp stones etc. and gives us a decent base to put the inner on. (Be careful here don't let the ground sheet extend to outside as you will get water pooling inside if it rains)

The tent has two openings, front and side, we left the front zipped down and used the side.

The inner has colour coded elastic clips that attach to the outer (I must point out here I am 6ft 3in I can reach the centre clips with ease, but my wife is 5ft 1in and she would need a decent box to stand on to do these)

At the base of the inner there are clips that are attached to the outer at six points, this keeps the inner fixed in place. There is a pegging point at the back (sleeping area) and two at the front, in our opinion there ought to be a couple of extras in the front porch area as this lifts up when the when it is windy and can trip you up. Not so bad if you have just come back from the pub but a hazard if you have a cup of hot coffee.

As the inner has a ground sheet fitted throughout this makes cleaning very easy, the ground sheet extends up the sides about 30cm (this will not be a good tent if you are in a wheel chair as our next door camper was and it would have been nice to invite them in for a drink).

The tent has two venting flaps at the back that are very adjustable to suit all weather conditions. The inner allows you to have two individual bedrooms (but as we are a couple we left it a large bedroom) and has two doors with mesh and solid screen. The tent has lots of clear plastic so you can look at the views, even a sky light. We never had any problems with condensation as you do with nylon outer tents

What sold us on this tent is that is has loads of good ideas like, if you live and tent in Scotland most of the time and can be plagued by the midge you are protected while you sit and enjoy a glass of wine.

Where can I get the Outdoor Revolution VRX SCENIC 5.0i from?

At the list price of £229.99 this tent is a fantastic buy - at the UKCampsite.co.uk member discounted price it's an unmissable bargain.
