The European Emergency Motorist's Rescue Kit

In this day and age it’s so important to be seen and to be safe if you have broken down in your vehicle. It’s an unpleasant experience waiting in or by your vehicle for help to arrive. If your loved one had broken down and some stranger offered help, would you be comfortable with that? If your son or daughter was caught out with a puncture or involved in an accident, wouldn’t you want to be contacted as soon as possible?  This is especially worse if you are in a foreign country and struggling to communicate with the locals!

CAUTION! When motoring abroad, you should be aware that there are different legal requirements from the UK, which carry fines for non-compliance, and could result in your insurance being invalidated.   The UKCampsite.co.uk was given a Euro Kit to try out.

Mainland Europe*

  • By law, you must display a GB sticker/plate on the rear of your vehicle.
  • You must fit headlight beam converters (to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic) plus carry a spare bulb kit.
  • Throughout mainland Europe, it is compulsory to carry a warning triangle, a first aid kit a spare bulb kit and a high visibility jacket. If you break down, you should put the red triangle at least 50 metres (150 metres on a motorway hard shoulder) behind your car, on the same side of the road.
  • If you are fined on the continent the only form of payment accepted is cash - credit cards are not accepted.
  • If you wear spectacles you must have a spare pair when travelling through France.

Don’t be caught out – make sure you carry the necessary equipment, and check the specific requirements of the countries you intend to visit (or travel through) in advance.

* Note: some EU countries have different laws e.g. a fire extinguisher may be required.

What did we think?

The package is fairly lightweight and comes in a cylindrical box containing all the components of the Emergency Rescue Delux. The package has a convenient and strong carrying handle making it easy to transport around.  We found the kits contents to be useful and what you may need in the event of a breakdown or accident from a first aid kit, to a tow rope.  The quality of the products is adequate to get you out of a pickle on the roadside whilst waiting for the emergency services to arrive.  The warning triangle is set on a tri-pod offering higher stability to help reduce the chances of it falling over when vehicles pass by.

The Euro Car Kit is a very useful bit of kit indeed and one that is recommended to carry when traveling abroad as it contains all you need to carry to be safe in Europe* including the light reflectors, GB Sticker, spare bulbs, warning triangle etc.. This emergency safety kit is ideal for any form of travel, whether you are in the UK or abroad, keep it with you at all times you never know when you may need it.

* Note: some EU countries have different laws e.g. a fire extinguisher may be required.
