Tyrepal Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems

TyrePal are specialists in tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), and can supply systems for vehicles from 2 to 36 wheels. They specialise in systems for caravans and motorhomes , and can supply systems that continuously show you the pressures of all your tyres, or systems that only alert when problems arise. Whichever system you choose, a sensor on each tyre continuously monitors the pressure and temperature of your tyres – and warns you when things aren’t right. They transmit the information wirelessly to a monitor that displays information and sounds an alarm for any abnormality. Things like:
  • Low pressure that causes excessive tyre wear and fuel consumption
  • High pressure that affects road holding, braking distance and tyre wear
  • Overheating – a potential blowout

The TA22 System

The TA22 range comes in various configurations, starting with a 2-wheel system (TA22/2) for a single-axle caravan where the towcar already has TPMS and the owner just wants to include monitoring for the caravan or trailer. Because it is so easy to add additional sensors they meet the needs of owners who would like to add the facility of monitoring their caravan spare wheel also.

The TA22/4 four sensor system is suitable for an owner with a twin-axle caravan (and again an additional sensor can monitor the spare wheel). This configuration can also be used on 4-wheel motorhomes.

The TA22/6 will suit either tag-axle or twin-wheel 6-wheeler motorhomes.

Any of the TA22 systems can be extended afterwards with additional sensors up to a total of 22 wheels, and a booster can be added afterwards if the transmission distance so requires.

The system is supplied with everything needed:

1 Monitor unit with rechargeable battery
1 Monitor holder with suction base
4 valve-cap sensors 0-145psi (cold inflation pressure)
4 sensor batteries (Lithium CR1632)
1 Anti-theft set, containing collars for each sensor and a locking tool
1 Power connector for 12V vehicle socket

What did we think?

The system is very easy to use. My vehicle already has a tyre monitoring system, so I used just two of the sensors on my caravan wheels. I also tested the unit on my classic campervan using all four sensors. The sensors replace the normal dust caps on your car or caravan tyres. They are very easy to fit, and come with anti-theft collars. You simply set your normal cold tyre pressure on the base unit, and register the sensors by screwing them onto the tyre valves. The sensors weigh just 11g complete with batteries, so it is not usually necessary to re-balance the wheels - when we tested them we didn't find any problems with wheel wobble.

The system automatically sets alert levels based on the target tyre pressures that you input and provides diagnostic information in the event of a tyre problem. The display defaults to just an outline of the vehicles and the wheel positions being monitored, but gives audible and visual alerts in the event of an abnormal situation. However, a push button enables you to scroll through the wheels to display the actual pressures and temperatures at any time.

You get a windscreen holder included for the unit, but I preferred to have it set just under the dash, my car had a handy shelf, almost made for it! You also get a 12v charger, to ensure the unit is always working.

If the distance between the monitor and the most distant tyres exceeds 7.5m you will require a booster unit, but this wasn't required on my caravan and car set up.

All in all these are a fantastic retro fit addition to any car or motorhome which doesn't have tyre monitoring as standard, and perfect for us caravan owners to ensure our pride and joy is safe on the road whilst towing.

Where can I get them from?

You can read more details, and see the full TyrePal product range here, where you can also order online. Despatch is normally next day, and if you are not entirely satisfied with a product, you can return it for a full refund.

Prices start from £125 for the two wheel unit, and £165 for the four wheel system (prices correct at time of publication and are subject to change with notice)
