Conway Classic 2004 model - we have just bought this and are going away at weekend with no instruction how to erect it! We have never had a trailer before.   Can anybody please help with instructions or give advice on this. Many many thanks.

Hi Kev and welcome to the UKcampsite forum.

I think pitching is easy - others might disagree. Essentially there are several different ways to pitch the tent.

The way I normally do it is:
Position the trailer allowing for a couple of metres either side - this can take the longest! Remember the tent/awning will extend over 7 metres with the sun canopy.
Then use the jockey wheel to level the unit front to back.
Take off the kitchen unit at put to one side - lower legs on kitchen is easier before taking off the trailer unless you are doing an overnight and only pitching the cabin and not cooking.
Then lower the legs to stabilise the trailer.
Open the cabin on both sides and extend the poles to the middle setting - with experience you will learn which setting is best, but you can adjust later to get the canvas tight.
Pull the cabin canvas over the frame and peg out.
Next sort out the frame of the awning and 'clip' the bigger frame to the cabin,
Put canvas on frame and zip to cabin.
repeat with the smaller frame and zip to the previous awning.
Attach doors to awning and peg out.
Tension canvas by adjusting frame.

There are various alternatives but after many arguments and several years you will be able to put it up by yourself while every one else goes to the pool!!

Let me know if you have any other questions or need better explanation.

There is an ebay seller who has a disc or pdf with instructions.

Just make sure you take your time. It really is common sense, pull the poles over on one side first, then the other (remember which way for when you are folding up) then connect the ridge poles. Gently pull the canvas down and then extend all the cabin poles to one click so you can unfold the beds. Peg down each corner while you go round and level everything up.  Make sure you zip up the cabin door before you peg out fullly.

Its a later model so the springs should still be in the awning poles but make sure you lay them out fully before you start as it makes it much easier. Some people zip the awning on first and throw it on top before building the frame and pulling it over but you will find the best way to suit you. This model has the full awning in two pieces so it makes it a bit easier to handle.

I do recommend you get some instructions and read them before you go otherwise you risk ripping the canvas.  Otherwise just go and pitch next door to someone who already has a trailer tent - they will be only too happy to show you how it's done, I promise.

Good luck and have a great weekend
