just returned from another wet trip to cornwall(never again!) put trailer tent away wet,and opened it 3 days later..guess what?on lighter areas of canvas, moldy mildew stains have appeared.. tent completely dry now , but stains are still there. t/tent is only 2006 ,so very anxious.. any suggestions for removal? want to sell it to buy caravan.
Sounds silly but will it brush away with a stiff brush? Our camper came out mouldy once after just a few days like yours. We put it up in the sunshine and a few hours later were able to brush most of it away. There were just a few a stains left.By the way we have just returned from France and will never again!!
Our second time to France. Do like it but weather not good and too much money and hassle to spend two weeks in the rain! When it is your main holiday it just aint fun! Off to the Isle of Wight on Saturday though!!
I have just been searching the web for solutions to mould and mildew and IOSSO seems to be one of the most recommended products to use. I am heading over to the Bay now to look for some.
We acquired our mould after two solid weeks of rain in Cornwall this year. The tent was mouldy when we took the bedrooms down. It was wet when we packed it and we opened it the same day we got home to help stop the mould spreading.
Will still go back though, only not so close to the moors!!!

Our second time also ,yes was expensive due to the Euro and rained somedays also ,but i believe it rained at same time in UK also.Would have to say a rainy day in France is far better than one in the UK anyday and won`t put me off .The sites ,people, food, shops, beaches etc are far superior to this dump we call England.

Thats got me worried now!! - I knew it was possible to get mildew if you fold up your camper whilst wet and don't dry it out properly when you get home, but I have not heard of getting mildew before whilst the camper is up!
Where did the mildew appear? - was it mildew free before you went camping?
If there's not enough air circulating it is possible to get mildew when the tent is up. On frame tents the under side of the roof above the bedroom inners is often wet from condense. Really if you have bedroom inners and the weather is as bad as it has been it is worth dropping them occasionally to let the air circulate.

Matt
The mildew appeared in the very outer corners of the bedrooms just above where the mattress sits, behind the bedroom inners. We also had a white dusty covering to the roof under the roof linings and yes, it was mould free before this.
I shall in future take Jan P's advice and drop the bedrooms and roof linings from time to time while away. Funnily enough, my husband and I had been discussing just that last night.
Having said that, it would be nice if we could pick two weeks when it did not rain every day. When it rains in Cornwall it rains!!!!! We only had one completely dry day the whole holiday and that was the day we arrived which is unusual even by British standards.
