We are probably one of the first home from this meet. For the simple reason we live the closest, about half an hour away!!
We joined the rest of the UKCS group on the Thursday evening and it was nice to see a few old faces again. It was also nice to meet a few new ones and our only regret is we were not able to be there for the whole week too.
A big thank you has to go to Big Chris who organised the meet and the whole thing went very smoothly. Also a big thank you to Adelaide who put in a lot of work assisting Chris. So well done the two of you.
I am sure more postings will follow as more people return home but in the meantime here is a link to photos from the meet..
Back home too. Great meet Thanks to Chris, Adelaide and Cheryl for the lovely welcome and being such good hosts. It was lovely to meet so many friends new and old. We like Al and Wendy we arrived on the Thursday from our wanderings.
Saturdays evenings barbeque, raffle and welly throwing seemed to be enjoyed by everyone.
Thanks to all for seeing us off this morning and we were in plenty of time for the ferry thanks to Chris' directions. Amazingly Jen and Allan (who left later and from Larne) followed us a good deal of the way along the A75 although we did lose them around Dumfries so hope they are home safe too.
Yes we are home. Our thanks also to everyone for making it a great meet and the welcome we received in Ireland everywhere we went.
Yes Jana at Dumfries we went wrong at roundabout following Dumfries signs ,we relised when you carried on so went round again and were a few cars behind you, lost you at the roadworks you got through lights before us. We stopped for a look round at Gretna retail outlet.
Got home at about 3.20am this morning, all safe and well!
What an absolutely fantstic meet and what a brill place to visit. My heartiest congratulations to Big Chris and Adelade on what was the first of many Northern Ireland meets, you did us all proud and your country is well worth revisiting in the future. I cannot thank you enough for what was a lovely relaxing meet, other than to say, when and where is the next one?
To all who attended, was great meeting friends both old and new and I cannot wait untile we have another fun filled meet either here on the mainland or over the sea in Ireland.
Will upload some of the 400+ pictures we took later on, need to unload the van and car and relax for a while just now!
Big thanks too from Amy and myself, posting from Papa Pip' s machine in Bonnie Scotland. Chris, Adelaide and Cheryl you did us proud! What a beautiful country, from the views from the road to Ballycastle to the tour of Shanklin Rd and the Falls Road it was all fascinating and well worth another visit to see all those things we missed! Carnfunnock Country Park is a stunning location with plenty for the kids and an absolutely delightful walled garden - well worth a visit in itself.
Thanks again to Big Chris for organising such a well thought out meet, I'm still laughing at the welly wanging, and the "Maid of Antrim" was delicious!
Welcome back all, glad you had a great time, sounds like a fab time was had! Many thanks indeed to Big Chris for all his hard work in organising the meet, we are very grateful.
Some great piccies there Al, and what a brill week we had. Big thanks to Chris & all the NI contingent for their generosity & hard work.
Shame it had to come to an end but as all good things do, it did.
Managed to get lost trying to find Dublin yesterday, went on a scenic route via Portadown by mistake, but we got there in plenty of time for our ferry. Was surprised to find Dublin very busy for a Sunday evening - must have been a game of something on earlier 'cos the streets were full of folk wearing similar coloured clothes & loitering outside the pubs drinking.
Got home about 2.50 am this morning. Washing machine now going full pelt.
------------- Caz
If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
....scenic route and Portadown?? You still had your rose specs on caz!! We used to live in Craigavon, down the road.....
Glad you all had a brill time as I knew you would with the place and the people and Chris & Adelaide too......great pics too!!
Good to hear you made it home Caz. And what a bonus Dublin via Portadown and more scenery!! LOL.... That's most of the visitors have reported in safe now!
Has anyone noticed that it's the NI crowd that's still very quiet? Bet they are still sleeping it off!!!!
it would look to me that you lot have worn big Chris out, his lack of posting since you all left leaves me to conclude that either papa pip hung him or you lot have left him totally knackered
