Thought this might be of us to you when getting insurance for your MH.
Some companies ask for trackers and Cat 1 alarms
There are 2 types of tracker the active, which is on all the time, then there is the passive which gets activated when you contact the company should you need to.
For the alarm, the insurance companies may well ask for a Cat 1, but they do not know the full numbering system as I found out. (which saved me over £100 on my premium) My alarm is recorded as a Cat 2-1 enhanced which a lot of companies thought was just the plain Cat 2. But it isn’t.
I contacted the alarm manufacturer directly and got the full story.
The vehicle when it comes out of the factory (FIAT etc) will have a factory fit Cat 2 immobiliser,(they say it is pointless adding another immobiliser as the factory fit one is more than adequate) If you fit a Cat 2-1 enhanced system this will upgrade the complete system to effectivly a Cat 1 system, as you are adding a Cat 1 alarm on top of the Cat 2 immobiliser.
I spoke to my insurance company about this, they went off and checked and then came back and agreed and where able to give me the lower premium. I contacted several insurance companies during my search for the right policy and only one knew what I was on about straight away and verified what I said. (That was Comfort).
I hope this helps, if you have the Cat 2-1 system then you should be able to get the lower premium associated with a Cat 1 alarm.
