IMO the sorento is a great tow car it has a good track record as a tug the auto is a little thirsty and is more to tax than my manual.I tow a 1900kg van and it feels very stable if you need more help i'm sure if you test drive one you will love it as i did.

Hi DaveS,
With regards your sorento's we are looking at them for my father and have found two possibles one on an 07 plate the other a 59 plate, i note you said both manuals can you please tell me if your later one was a 5 speed or 6speed, as the later one we looked at was 6speed and never having had a 6speed box for towing wondered what it was like or to stick to the 5 speed. If 6 speed what are they like, any preferences. Thanks Duncan.

The Sorentos up to 2010 model are 5 speed, they have loads of torque and pull quite happily in 5th.
2010 version, which we now have, has 6 speed box, it certainly has plenty of torque.
We met a couple in France this year with the KX2 like ours who said they tow really well-they also had the same van as us!
2010 onwards are lighter but more economical, but obviously cost more to buy.
The current Sorento has just been facelifted, first ones in dealers now. Ours is a pre facelift 3 months old so we got a good deal!

Both are good cars, so you won't go wrong with either. Personally, I'd recommend the SF - I test drove the Sorento and found the ride a bit floaty. Also, not as good looking IMO and you'll get slightly better economy with the SF.
