Hi Welcome
Depends on the caravan you choose. Someone posted this link last week, put in the make and model of your car and caravan, and it will give you the outfit match.

Lo peeps....got my heart set on a second hand caravan for weekend breaks for wife and two kids....trouble is my wife just got a company car ( focus ) and i ave to sell my tdi golf. i know the golf would tow far better than the focci but i need to get rid of the golf as i owe finance on it. therefor i intend to tow with the focus i`m also aware that i`m limited by kerb weight of the focci but is it a pipe dream to tow with a 1.6 petrol or a possibility but just slow and sore on the juice?
any advise would be appreciated!!
Marky

Hi Marky, There are several vans that you could tow as already mentioned, I myself tow with a 1.6 petrol and find it copes very well in all conditions, ok so the fuel gauge goes down faster with the van on the back but still manages about 65% of the normal running cost. Having travelled along a good selection of roads, from single track to motorway, I can say that we have never had any problems. Its all down to the match of your van and car, if you stick to the manufacturer's stated limit or the 85% rule then it should not be a problem.
Happy caravanning!
