Can I fit a towbar to my caravan and pull a trailer or jet bike behind my caravan ?
I have seen this type of double rig on USA tv. but don't know if it is legal here in UK ?????
Are there any problems with this type of towing (apart from the obvious reversing)?

Would it not mess up the nose weight of the caravan and therefor have an adverse effect of stability. I am also wondering whether you could actually get a towbar to fit. You could always talk to AlKo.

Don't know about the legalities although the fairground folks double tow or even triple tow but on big heavy trailers. You are porentially going to have a good weight working against the caravan and I think it would be pretty unstable.

Tight turns, reversing, getting through gateways, small roundabouts etc would all be problematical.

Only travelling Fairs are allowed to double tow.

Probably because nobody dares to challenge them, much like when the travellers arrive on your lad's soccer field.

Should shoot 'em all, for the good of society.

We used to double tow with the chopper and a trailer and hitch two silage trailers together before the days of self propelled choppers and the need for more tractors when travelling from farm to farm.Reversing is no trickier than if it were a four wheel trailer with a turntable.
Legality of double towing with a car (motor vehicle) aside I think the biggest problem would be getting a drawbar.

Caravan chassis wont be type approved to fit a towbar to it.

Also unless your caravan is small you will be over the maximum legal towing length for a PLG vehicle.

No you can't do it.  It's illegal to tow more than one trailer.  There are exemptions for showmen and, I think, farmers.  You will notice that the showmen always put teh caravan at the back of another trailer.  The caravan itself wouldn't survive the loads put through it.

Change to a motohome with a towbar to avoid the double towing.

you dont have to be a showman to tow two trailers .i can do it with mine .its classed as a motor tractor and can pull two unladen trailers if it was a locomotive it can pull three trailers .

i use a mitsubishi canter to pull my fifth wheel trailer. the vw lt in my profile pics is now resting in the drive .i built the mitzy and when dvla came to view it they decided it was now a motor tractor. i would call it a mini artic .its a 7 seater double cab.

I've always thought only Showmen & Farmers can run double articulated. Some of the people I see shouldn't be let loose with one trailer let alone two.

not double atriculated  dolly and a second fixed bar or artic and single fixed but not 2 artics and there are many restrictions that then come in place such as you become a locomaotive and much lower speed limits etc

as a motor tractor its unladen weight is under 7370kg (actually its unladen weight is 2796kg). if it was over 7370 kg unladen it would become a locomotive. as it is it can tow two trailers either drawbar or one artic and one drawbar. if it and its trailers have springs and wings it can do 40mph on a motorway and 30mph on other roads. ther same limit applies for m,tractor or locomotive. 

although showman and circus,s are named in many exemptions so are lots of other types of use. be it drivers hours. use of tacho,s. plating and testing. you may be suprised try to get a v112g form from your local dvla office .there are 36 exemptions for mot on that form alone .inc play buses and educational vehicles. have a good read. i spend hours reading this type of stuff in my job. all very interesting.
