Had a great time this weekend even with the rain on Saturday the campsite is very good lots to see and do wish we could have stayed longer will put pics on later
Yep were're just back too.... lovely site but pitty about the weather.... just turned into a mud bath so we came home a day early.
Enjoyed ourselves though.......... apart from the botched expedition on sunday night (nice little dog walk that turned into a 6 mile hike in the dark and rain) thanks to Daisy for rescuing us though.
Just to let you all know we also arrived back late last night. We should have been leaving today but the weather forcast looked bad so we packed up and left yesterday late afternoon. We still had a good time even with the weather being poor. Its a great site with lots to see and do. Hope the weather gets better for those still there and those still to go. Im sure you will make the best of it like the rest of us did.
I am afraid the wet and slippery sloping campsite was just too dangerous for my new Metal Mickey Knees to cope with. Bad enough in daylight, it would have been suicidal to venture out after dark.
Rather looks like we will be "flat" camping for a while yet.
Nice to meet up with you and Isla again Lobey ,loved your little cute van amazing it was .Shame the weather was so awfull. though it was ok on the friday we were there .
bailed out today after 3 good days and last night being a nightmare, when i arrived on wednesday the site was okay in places but soft in others, it actually dried out apart from the worst muddy bits down at the bottom of the hill but with last night's continous downpour the field was back to being very soft again
was a good meet, we had a bonfire on friday night along with a good few ales, big thanks to pauline and joan for supplying me with tea when it was too wet to boil me own kettle and to everyone that made the distance. it was a good meet and 2008 will be even better
tent is now drying in the garage and groundsheets are drying as well before scraping the mud off
Got back safe, it only took us two and a half hours even with the 'van as it's only just over 125 miles away.
Had a great time. Could have cried when I heard the rain last night as the site was much drier on Friday (similar to how it was on Tuesday).
Only have the ground sheet to clean and the awning roof to dry out fully (it's just a bit damp). The 'van is currently on the drive so will get it all spruced up for going back into storage tomorrow.
We had a fab time even with the weather. In the end we had three tents who stayed for the full meet, and another that even extended their stay by one night!
Sorry to hear you're having more tent problems Beezers. The nebraska xxl is a gorgeous tent, we first saw one at Pitlochry Easter 2006 and thought it was fab but too big for the three of us.
Sorry we didn't get round to say bye to everyone. Hope you all got home safe and looking forward to next year.
Glad you got home OK. I am beginning to think I am not meant to have my lovely PERFECT Nebraska XXL. I have had three now and all faulty We are going to call Mark at Yeomans in Ambleside tomorrow and see what he says. I want another XXL, but think this time Iwill insist Mark ptches it before we take it, then I`m going to go through it with a VERY fine toothcomb and warn him if it is another leaker he`s getting it straight back!!
Enjoyed Bruces even though the weather was awful most of the time. I`m sick of rain and mud now, but at least we`ve proved we`re not fair weather campers!
