Hi
This is our first post and I am probably in the wrong area of the website so sorry about that if I am. We are a camping family of 5 from NZ currently exploring the wonderful UK. Because of weight and size we left all our camping gear back in NZ and we are starting from scratch again. We were wondering if there was anybody out there in the camping world that was upgrading their gear and wanted to get rid of their old stuff. Anything considered, as long as in good condition with no holes, rips or mould. We basically need everything except for sleeping bags! So we would appreciate to be considered if you are cleaning out your garage etc.

They've got some very reasonable tents at Tesco:
http://direct.tesco.com/q/N.1999283/Nr.99.aspx
I've just been looking at a couple of Litchfield tents on there.

You might also want to try http://www.freecycle.org/ , which is a recycling website. I've seen a couple of tents on my local list recently.

Hi fmc
Check out Cabanon tents on EBay there is a six berth frame tent, Trailer, and everything you will require to camp, the tent as been proofed with wax so will require you to reproof every couple of years or so, but this as to be the camping deal of the year.
Good hunting

Kiaora - welcome to the UK -  can't really help with the camping gear but I second the Halfords tent pack - not the greatest quality but... SO cheap and all in one bag

Which part of NZ are you from?   My husband grew up in North Shore and we have lots of friends there ...

When/where are you planning on camping in the UK?

Nosey us brits!

Kiaora!
The kids want us to go places anywhere with beaches! We are from Tauranga. We are planning on going to many places. I have to say that this website is very impressive and inspiring! And with like minded people. We have been in the UK for 10 months and have loved it all, especially the exploring so we are particularly looking forward to summer!
Thanks for your kind regards.

Well for beaches, it has to be Devon/Cornwall (but then I am biased ) ... If you end up this way, I have a spare frame tent you could borrow if you picked it up en route ... whereever you end up, enjoy!

Hello
Thanks for that! We are planning to do camping in Cornwall in a teepee! We found the YHA have these in certain areas of the country and they look like fun!
Roll on summer! In the meantime we have been doing day trips into London until the weather improves (it does doesn't it?).
Cheers.

Hello
Actually in the first week of the school spring holidays we are going to Scotland for the first time! It is such a dream come true for me, as I have distant family there and it has always seemed so far away. Its funny that the last leg of the journey is sometimes the hardest to make with the final destination - so close yet so far, as the saying goes. So I am very excited. We are going to be based in the Dumfries area and we are planning to do a another proper road trip some time later.
