We have now put up our Diablo 900 3 times and have had the same problem every time. Once the tent is up (with all zips done up) we undo the zips for the bedrooms and cannot do up one of the bedrooms by the same amount each time. Any help / advice gratefully received.
I have no useful advice - just wanted to say the same thing happens to us every time and I will be awaiting all the comments with interest!! Do you suffer from the baggy bedrooms effect too? That conundrum is really starting to get to me !
Yes we do get the baggy bedrooms. Some friends put theirs up then one of them goes into each room and pushes out the groundsheets whilst the other is outside pegging in. This works for them however we tried it and still had problems.
This also happens with our diablo 900, have you noticed that you can zip it up all the way when the fly sheet isn't on, but when the fly sheet is on it won't zip properly.
Spoke to both Vango and the shop where I bought the tent. Vango say there maybe a problem and they will have a look at it but it will take approx. 2 weeks. They did say to speak to the shop first. The shop (Kenmar) were also helpful and suggested trying to run the zips all the way up and down a few times quickly when there is no tension on the tent as it is possible for the two halves of the zip to come out of alignment. If this doesn't work they said to call them back and they would take a look.
We are using ours then too so don't want to have to send it back until after then either. What is the Vango website/email/phone number and maybe we will set the ball rolling before then and add our voice to yours! Such a shame because we are really pleased with the tent otherwise.
Deb (who hasn't been able to get onto Tent Talk due to teenagers hogging computer for MSN!)
Thanks Dave. I will get in touch with them. We were thinking maybe it was just us not getting it quite right but possibly that's not the case! Will have one last try over the bank holiday and will then get the ball rolling. You never know, I might crack it then and solve the problem (dream on)!
I think these must be common problems. The baggy bedroom annoys the other half and the tight zips annoys everyone.
We don't have a solution for the tight zips but options I am considering are: pegging the ring & pin through the rings to pull the bedroom poles closer together or looping some twine through the pins at each end of the bedroom poles and pulling them slightly more together.
If any of these methods have been tried and discounted let me know so I dont waste my time :-)
I like the idea of pegging the ring and pins. However I have spoken to Vango and they did suggest there maybe a problem. I can't get my tent looked at until after I have come back from a trip on the Bank Holiday. I will post again once I have more.
