When does your camping season start? I want to start going as soon as possible - daughter got excited other day and wanted to go this weekend but I refuse to go when its this cold!!

Last year I went at the end of April for the first camp. It was a matter of waiting until the evenings were longer, and of course I wanted a dry weekend too. It was very cold as I went to a site that didn't have ehu. I will not make the same mistake this year.

I used to wait until the night time temperatures were a little more friendly...probably into double figures but since getting EHU it's simply a case of going whenever the mood takes me...although I shy away from frost, snow, wind and heavy rain. It can be very pleasant even in mid winter but early spring when the flowers are starting to burst through and the animals and birds have young can be a very interesting time.

Late April early May is when all our camping kit comes down from the loft. We don't use EHU so it's very much about the outside temp! We went away at the end of October last year and it got down to 4°C which we found was our limit!

Our season usually starts around Easter, but the last two years it has been exceptionally cold, so its been towards May. Although the desperation to go camping starts around November and doesn't stop till we pack the car for our first trip of the season.

Im so desperate to go .... think Its been made worse by the fact we have been buying a few camping bits that we needed in the sale!

Was thinking end of feb start of march but still think thats gonna be too cold - we have yet to buy a hookup and fan heater though so we might be ok once we got that

We usually aim for an Easter to end of October season but this is fairly flexible with an extra week or two either way!
We always use EHU so the fan heater is definalty a vital bit of kit at the beginning and end of the season.

have to say I feel the cold no matter what time of the season it is - back end of last year on our last trip i was actually cold and I think that was september - sat there wishing we had ehu and a heater lol

May for us, and it cant come round quick enough - we dont have EHU and I feel the cold something terrible, I am currently looking for a new car to fit all my camping stuff in.  Perhaps we should invest in EHU so our season is longer.

Generally people camp from april/may till sept/oct - depending on the weather. It also depends on the fabric your tent is made from. It also depends on whether you have a EHU, and therefore heating, or not. Some folks are way more hardy than others. I'm not one of them!

Well this will be my first full season camping and have chose to go somewhere at easter. Hope it not too chilly then. Got a EHU to try out so defo going to take a heater

Our first camp is in February.. The only problem we have is finding people to join us!!.... Not everyone's as mad as we are!!

Only problem after that is that there is not another holiday till Whitsun, so there is actually as much break between our first and second trip to that of our last trip from the previous year IYSWIM?
What I am trying (and failing) to explain is that we still only camp for 6 months of the year as there is a 3 month break between 2 of the holidays, so No camping in November,december, january and then March, April and most of May.... Does that make sense now?

We do make up for it over the rest of the year though
