We purchased a new kampa croyde 6 today to replace our beloved one where the fabric had failed after five years.
Had a trial pitch in the garden and oh my goodness the ring and pins are so tight, we loosened the tensioners as much as possible and got them in eventually but not without a lot of swearing and back ache! Just hoping they loosen off a bit over time, I can't remember the old Croyde being that tight. In fact when we looked on the old tent the pins are a lot shorter than on the new one so I think we may take a couple with us in case we have a failure on the campsite.
Never argued before putting the tent up but think we could do this weekend! Has anyone else had problems?
Our Series 3 ring and pins are tight too, not too bad but the Cross Camping method works fine for the stubborn ones. Be careful forcing the pins, we ended up bending the canopy roof pole at one of the joints because it was so tight, Kampa were excellent though and replaced the pole free of charge.
One other thing to check is if you have the correct poles baring in mind that the tent and poles come in separate bags, on another thread on here someone found out they had been given the poles for the previous years tent which were a slightly different size, wasn't a Kampa but I suppose it could happen.
Also make sure you give the tent a good soaking (rain or hose!) and a thorough check over as we had a couple of quality control issues and a couple of leaks from the window seams which collected in the curtain pockets, a bit of seam sealant fixed it though and Kampa and the shop we bought it from were excellent in sorting us out.
Great tent, enjoy it!

Thanks so much for posting that link to the video, so simple but I would never have thought of it!
We haven't soaked it yet, we can't get the tent up in our garden so will have to run the risk of taking it away and it getting wet, I am sure that will happen sooner rather than later.
I just don't want to part with my old tent, it's only the roof that's gone, everything else is still immaculate, however I suppose I have spares for everything now, let's hope this one serves us as well as the old one.
First camp with it this weekend, third camp of the season
I'm sure you will be fine, its always a good idea to have some seam sealant in your camping kit anyway so if needs be you can carry out on site repairs!
There is always a market for spares, when we bent our roof pole (before Kampa so kindly replaced it) I looked round for spares and came across a private seller on eBay selling their old Croyde 6 poles for £35 a pole!
The Cross method for ring and pin is great, you just need to make sure you keep the canvas out of the way as it would be very easy to make a hole if it got trapped in the joint.
Let us know how you get on at the weekend!

Crikey £35 a pole...... Hubby said we should out whole tent on for £50 and I said we can't do that as its broken. Tempted to put some of the poles on though ;)
Following Bobs advice, watch out for the pole clips as well, the Kampa ones are the most viscious I have come across. One of them drew quite a lot of blood when I was test pitching our new Croyde, to the great amusement of my 9 year old!

this is a brilliant video :) our vango Maritsa 700 is very tight putting the pins in once one side is in that often hubby has to come to my aid (!) I will be using this tip having fractured my ankle at the beginning of march and it is still not healed properly :)

Pole clips - I have similar issue with the inner tent clips on Esther the Estoril... someone on here (who shall remain nameless to spare their blushes) said spit on them... it works a treat
Hi, just wondering if I could use the same method as in the video on fiberglass poles? I have 3 poles on my tent and one of the pins in the middle just doesn't reach! only once I think it did actually go in but never has since, I don't want to force it to much we stand it in the ground and put pegs around it to stop it moving.
