Just back from 3 weeks camping in France. Camped at the Le Commanderie in Rustiques just 8km from Carcassonne for 10 nights.
We had a good sized pitch and hired a fridge (cold beer)😀. Only problem was that ants ate holes in our tent to get inside. Grrrrr! Patched the holes and sprayed all the guy ropes with anti ant spray and also did the groundsheet which seemed to solve the problem.
Also crumpled up a paper towel and placed it under the tent where the ants were most numerous and sprayed that regularly.
Our tent is green and grey but the ants only ate the grey material (polyester not cotton).
Great campsite and would recommend it to anyone. Almost forgot but they ate two holes in the groundsheet. I am glady we had our tenacious tape with its

Ants, not termites?

Gosh they were hungry and determined weren't they?

I feel for you re the damage to your tent and groundsheet - but amazed they could do it also. (We had a hungry mouse over the winter nibbling our PVC groundsheets in the garage - Blue Diamond, they have good taste ).

Hope you can find a way to fix it with that Tenacious Tape or Tear Aid or a patch.

Did you catch them at it?

Do campers 'peg it'?

We noticed a single hole after a couple of days then more appeared but in a straight line. Definitely ants! Had some sticky back tent repair fabric and will reinforce that with seam sealant.
Ant spray seemed to do the trick though
