For a few weeks I have seen various tents available at places like Aldi and Lidl.... some have seemed too big....some too small...others look like they will fall to bits or leak in the lightest of rain.
This latest one looks to fit the bill for me but I'd appreciate any feedback on it....if any?
I have a young family and we fancy trying a bit of camping... it will be a new experience for them... I've been camping when I was younger many times though.
Does anyone have any extra information about this tent and how rain/storm resistant it might...plus how it would cope with strong winds..
Also professional tent anchoring.....what exactly does that mean?
I want a tent with good space and also headroom... the price is about what I was thinking of paying however should I maybe look elsewhere?
I bought the Aldi 3 man dome one and took it back today as the the flysheet didnt fit well over the inner... So went and got a well know make today, paid more but I dont want to be flooded out etc!!!
So thats something to think off.. mind you they gave me a refund with no quibble.. maybe try the bigger one and make sure you can take back after a trail run in the garden.
If you put LIDL into your web browser ( google etc ) you will find there are a quite a few forums available to you which may be able to help.
Also a big store like Lidl probably cant afford to sell real crap, and if the tent is no good take it back for a refund.
I know eveyone has a budget to stick to, have you tried camping exhibitions especially the last day or so , you might get a real bargain. The tent i have was an ex-display and has been a really good buy. There is also Ebay I am thinking of a second hand trailer tent for next year and there are some good buys on Ebay at the moment....
Best of luck with your choice and dont get too hung up on facts and figures try and see the tent you want erected before buying.
Just for info, I took back one of the double self-inflating camping mats to Lidl a few weeks ago. There was nothing wrong with it but it didn't inflate as much as I expected. If it's over £10 they can't give you a refund in-store, but take your details and send you a cheque. I received this Friday and it was for £2 less than the £19.99 I paid for the mat. I need to speak to them Monday as to why - the letter says this is "in line with their refund policy".
It might be best to establish their refund policy before purchase.

Thanks for the comments guys... I often buy stuff from Aldi and Lidl I must admit...and often am extremely pleased. I have also returned things in the past without any problems.... I have never heard of the LIDL £10 refund policy maybe it is a individual store thing.
Obviously the handy thing about Aldi is that I can take the tent back if I think it is no good....places like ebay are a bit of a gamble unless you are buying a specific recommendation.
Anyone familiar with the brand of tent - Adventuridge or do you think it's just a generic name used by Aldi's suppliers?
Yeah I haven't seen the Tent anywhere else...and so have no idea about the HH value.... looking around though the general recommendation in the UK would be about 2000M? would you say?
I might buy the tent anyway and see if the owners manual/leaflet states the value?
I would really only be using it through spring/summer though.
Well I finally got around to putting my one up in the garden today and also took some pictures HERE!
I am very happy... it was easy to put up and there is stacks of room.... we are all going to sleep in it tonight.
Now I have put it up once I could do it much quicker...as it was I was messing about trying to stretch it out exactly... but the outer tent could be erect and be guyed out in 20 minutes perhaps.
One of my guy ropes were frayed but I just knotted it...there is a spare in the repair kit.
My only criticism really is that the ground sheet and inner tent could be better secured together...as it is I think I will place some extra brass eye's in the ground sheet just to stop it gathering or lifting up as the kids run in and out of the tent.
There are three lengths of pegs... I assume you use whatever length is suitable for the ground conditions as there are more than you need... the pegs are OK... one of the long ones bent as I banged it down... but then my back garden is pretty stoney under the top soil and grass.
So if you see these other the weekend... hopefully these messages and pictures will help you make up your mind either way. :)
Thanks so much for posting your piccies. Your photos make it look alot bigger than the Aldi photo I had seen. You have helped me make up my mind. Am pretty sure I am going to try and get 1. I hope though you may be able to help answer my questions....Is it relatively easy to put up? Would a person only 5ft tall (me) and a sensible 6 year old (maybe stood on step) be able to manage to erect one of these? Am only asking your opinion - dont worry wont hold you to it.
Hope you have fun camping in it tonight. Please do report back and let us know how you get on.
I quite like it...interesting shape. And 2000 hh is good.
Another question...the guylines. They look sort of lumpy. I`m not sure if this is an effect of the camera or that they are twisted in some way? My Gelert tent has guylines that are attached to two points, but are not connected in a Y-shape like yours. The peg goes straight into the point of the V. I don`t know if you can see this...there`s a picture of the Gelert in my profile. I am trying to think of the pros and cons of the different guyline design and pegging out method of our two tents. Did the instructions for your tent say to do it that way?
No probs as you'd expect after one summer night :) lots of room for our two Aldi double inflatable beds too. I'm not sure I have pegged the tent out properly as some of the zips are quite tight to do up... whereas in other area's the outer tent seems loose.... I suppose a bit of practise I would get this right.
I'm gonna to take it down in a moment... leave it for an hour or two and then attempt to pack it all away.
In terms of the height... I am 6' tall... and at the highest point of the outer tent (say you are standing in the porch section) a 7' person could stand and maybe just touch the lining... in my case I can walk into the porch without needing to duck down and can still stand for about one metre from the highest centre point to where the outer tent starts to scope down. In the inner tent I can also stand at the entrance though once I move further into the sleeping compartment it is necessary to duck down slightly.
Yes the guy ropes are quite chunky... it's not really clear in the instructions how you are supposed to peg them out so I've just done it how I think is correct... the Y method is quite good because it in effect give you two guy point I suppose and lessens the likelyhood of ripping. I'd say it is probably about 4mm, flourescent with reflective strips. It is quite tightly braided around what I assume to be a inner polyester core. One of my guy ropes had frayed so I knotted it... but it probably would have held in place I think.... it just looked a bit untidy.
