Hi everyone.Thought I`d better repeat my first post. This time in the right forum.I`ve just bought an Easy Camp Mykonos 6 frame tent and the instructions are sketchy to say the least.Does anyone have any experience in erecting these tents? or maybe could someone post brief instructions. This is our first frame tent and we would like our first trip to be as hassle-free as possible(don`t we all). Thanks in advance-Dave

I'm afraid, I've never 'put up' a 'Mykonos'... But when someone comes along 'with vast experience' ('cos someone will!) with this tent, they'll have all the answers...

Everyone will tell you the same, have a 'practice' in your garden (gotta be a 'biggish one!) or the local park. That's the best place to 'iron out' any little problems... 'Cos you can guarantee, there'll be a bunch of 'old sweats' sniggering behind their beer cans, watching you struggle!...

Nice looking tent, by the way!...

Bot put up the Mykos - but have done the Kos 6.

Lay your poles on the floor in roughtly the right position.  Then build the roof section.  Then add the legs  -e keeping them to half height.   I work back to front - one side and then the other - some people perfer both side back, both sides middle, then front.
Once you have the half sized frame - start putting the canvas on -starting at the back or the middle (depending on how its been folded).    Work either back to front or middle to back and then middle to front.

Once the canvas is over the half sized frame, frame, crawl inside, and start to tying loosely to the frame at the top (you may need to adjust once its up).
Then one leg at a time raise the tent to full height - again some people prefer back to front, others one side and them the other.

Put the front panel on when have done this.

You may need to ajust pegging etc to ensure that the door zips properly, but this is trail and error.
Once you've got the main tent up, and the twiddly bits such as curtains and roof linings.

Onve you have done it a few times it will become second nature.

Put it this way a couple of years ago, my lovely husband had forgotten to book time off work, and consequently couldnt make our holiday, and it managed the Kos 6 songle handed, and I'd only given a hand before.

Enjoy your tent - I love my Kos 6, and have seen a Mykos on site, and it looked really nice.

Oh and welcome to the site.

Never put one of these particular tents up myself, only the smaller square type frame tents. But if your instructions don't already tell you, the main thing with frame tents generally is to erect the frame to half-height only (if not already done so by mfrs, try coding the poles in some way the first time your tent is up, so next time it's easier to identify quickly which bit goes where - coloured tape or write on in indelible waterproof marker?), then pull the canvas over before pushing the legs up to full height. Don't try & do it at full height.

Now you can either put the rolled up canvas onto the frame roof (making sure it's the right way round of course and that it's rolled up inside out - requires forward planning when you pack it away)& roll it down over the frame. Or you may find it easier to unroll the canvas & drag it up onto and over the frame working from the rear forwards (making sure to avoid any snagging or you could risk a tear)- disadvantage with this method is that the canvas can pick up grass stains or mud when doing it in the wet this way. Ok in the dry though and you're not lifting the full weight of all the canvas up in the air at once.

I saw 2 persons erecting a big heavy Cabanon tent, lift the rolled up canvas and hold it above their heads & then they walked under the frame passing it over the the frame as they walked through. Easier than trying to heave it up and as they effectively kept their bodies straight and used their legs to raise and lower, less chance of back injury. I didn't stop & watch but presumably they just then rolled it down over the frame as I suggested above.

If there's any kind of breeze be sure to have either someone holding it down as the canvas goes up, or better, put some temporary pegs/guys in just to hold it down & stop it going like a parachute!

Not sure if this is any help to you.

We have the mykonos 8 and have found that if we leave the porch poles off while after we have put the canvas over it makes things easier. The poles should all be numbered anyway.

Hi

We have an easycamp 6 and ours were numbered but after a couple of uses the numbers wear off so the best thing to do is when it is erected is the colour code the poles with different coloured insulation tape.

Yes as stated above leave the porch pole off until you have the canvas over the reat of the tent.

cheers

steve
