I'm a single dad with two lads under 6, and being single made me more determined than ever to continue touring, and continuing what my boys had always loved. People are always so helpful, I suppose tricky times are when you want to nip to the loo, or have a shower, but many sites now have family bathhrooms which are great.
I am sure you will get some good advice about tents on here and remember UKCS meets are all very friendly. If you need help putting up your tent just ask, you'll get an army, I promise you.
I camp on my own but I am old and fat and find putting a tent up a bit difficult these days but there is always someone who will help 'cos they are all great folks here.
Happy Camping!

Thanks for your support Fantasy Phil and Megawoman, Im really looking forward to going now. Ive got my new fluffy sleeping bags and pick up my tent on Sat. Im not sure I want to wait until May now.
hi lisa i was just wondering how you are getting on on your camping trips with the sassari six , have you worked out how to put it up, i have one too and im a single parent...
Im a single parent too.My five year old loves camping with me and always meets new friends.Would love to find out how lisa got on camping with her boys.
Hi fellrunner and allsetUK. I am doing great and so are the boys. We have been away 6 times since May and we have another 2 booked for next month. I am a dab hand at the tent thing now although I do need to ask someone for help just to stand inside the tent holding up the poles while I get the two main poles in place. Once this is done I can do the rest myself including getting the outer on (as long as it is not windy then I need help for this too). No Im not 6 foot 2 Im only 5 foot 6 hehehehe!!! I have just had a fair bit of practice now (head swells ).
Taking the tent down is a lot easier I start at the bedrooms and work in then I use the kids to stand on it while I am folding it so that it doesnt blow away.
I have generally found that you get all of the help that you need (I am just a stubborn independant) and the people are really nice. I would really recommend you go on a meet just to find out for yourselves.
Are you both booked onto the National??? I will be there from the Thursday so I could give you a hand if you want.
thats great lisa, im fiercly independant too...and ive no clue where to start with my sassari, so thats why its still in its bag!! ;( yes im looking into the national..sounds good
Thanks Lisa for the update.Sorry wont be able to make the nationals,i have already booked into a site in north wales.luckily i only have a large two man tent which i can erect with ease on my own and is fine for a few nights away.My little girl cant wait to go camping again.Glad to see your all enjoying the thrills of camping.
Im off to north wales today for a couple of nights on my own.

If you decide to go then come and find me when you get there and I will give you a hand with your tent. I will be there from the Thursday and have a flagpole outside of tent with an England windsock on it.
