There was a thread on here recently regarding the problems getting some 185/65 R14 tyres for a Bailey Ranger 550/6

Old Thread

The result was a suggestion to get them from Camskill Tyres but they no longer have any stock.

Can anyone suggest where I can get some from with the required load index ? Or am I better of chaging to a 185/75 R14 tyre ?

The 185/75 will have a larger diameter than the 185/65, have you checked on that for clearances?

You could also check and see if the 175/65R14C (commercial) tyre is available, that will be a 6 or 8 ply.

Funny how some sizes suddenly vanish for no reason.

I'm not sure how much bigger a 185/75 will be. Is the 75 number a measurement or a percentage?

Also would I be able to fit a 175/65 on the rim ?

185 is the nominal width of the tyre.
65 is the tyre aspect ratio, the ratio between height and width.
14 is the rim size.
C is for a commercial tyre type
97 (or another number) is the load rating.

Any 14" tyre will fit a 14" rim, but rim and tyre widths have to be suitably matched.

If you increase the aspect ratio number, the tyre diameter increases, so a 70 ratio is larger in diameter than a 65 ratio of the same tyre width on the same diameter rim.

If you go down on the tyre width, check that the load rating for the smaller tyre is correct for your 'van.

Thanks corrakid - ' Tyrechoice 185/65R14 Caravan tyres Maxxis £63-20 each ' although I was hoping to find them a bit cheaper than this as the ones at Camskill were only £46.20 each.

 yes i got my tyres from Camskill 195/70R14 96N they were Maxxis £50-90 each they were hard to find , caravan dealer wanted about £144 each,rip off merchants.

 Q speed rating is 100mph

 Maxxis 185/65R14 93N     93=650kg     N speed rating 87mph

 I would go for the Sempervit

Has anyone on here ever used Sempervit tyres ?

I have never heard of them and worry about the quality.

Hi I am not ready to change the tyres on our ranger yet but when I do I will either go for 185/80 van tyres which are 8 ply 102 load
Or 175/80 van tyres there seems to be more choice certainly in the 185 /80 range

phil76 do you think that the extra side wall size of approx 2.8cm will cause any issues ?

I was thinking about issues getting the wheel clamp on etc ?

I am not sure but
Just done some measuring and I don't think 185/80 14 will fit It would be very close to the wheel arch which is a pity because there are plenty of tyres to choose from in that size
