i would find some polished wood and make box to fit in the cupboard yourself.then cut out the front to fit the cage.thats all they are anyway. found this

i just used a wooden box to go inside the overhead locker with a couple of small blocks in to take the weight of the DIN chassis , bent the tags back round the aperture to secure it in the slot and just clicked the head unit into position. the wooden box has a removable side for access for your connections/aerial etc, all the wirings hidden and it works well. got it connected to a 4 speaker/fader system with the speakers just above floor level in the floor lockers, creates good bass.thinking of swapping the head unit for a remote control Sony one though, make life easier.

found this method worked well for me, dont know if there is a readily available kit though.

i've just done the same , making a small ply box to fit the cage in, thenput some phono plugs on the speaker leads and a small plug / socket for the 12v.

i've varnished the box ,so it can sit on the front windowsill. looks ok and the front buttons are removable when were not there.

only thing is .

does anyone know where i can buy some decent shelf mounted speakers from, most of the car places have the flush door fitting ones. and i dont want to cut holes in the cupboards

Sorry for the late reply - I work for a vehicle communications company and use the plastic trays for fitting head units into - can be mounted under a shelf or the other way up to sit on a shelf.

Our 2006 van came with a factory -fitted radio/MP3 player.  This is located in its own housing, and behind the door of one of the roof lockers.  Whether using the remote control or manually tuning/adjusting volume, etc, it is necessary to open the locker for this purpose.

Our van came top of its class in the April C.C. magazine, and we really love it, but this is the one useless item onboard.   A standard stereo radio/CD player, with direct access and no remote control would have been more than adequate.
