I have a carver fanmaster which works fine on gas but when i switch it to electric its runs fine for a while then switches to cold blow can anybody tell me where the thermostat is located ive looked in all cupboards and the walls where ever it is i think it wants moving to a more suitable place. Hi Guzgog , i have a picture showing the thermistor location , if you send me a email i'll send it to you . Not sure this is the same as a thermostat .

I'm not sure what you mean, it has an over temperature switch but if this trips you need to press it to reset before it will blow hot again. The normal temp control is infact a thermistor and this is in a hole on the end of two brown wires, to get at it you neen to remove the black plastic cover on the fanmater unit.(a thermistor is a resistor whose resistance varies with temperature)

The Thermistor will give trouble if it gets coated with a thick insulating blanket of fluff and this could be your problem, however if it is, then the whole unit will be in a similar state and need taking apart for a good clean out.

Don't confuse the Carver temp control system with The Truma ultraheats system fitted after 2000, it's the ultraheats thermistor that needs moving, Carvers always worked well where they put them!

The reset switch btw is behind a finger of plastic on the end of the unit, you will find it exactly 9ins down and 7ins back from the top left hand corner of the gas fire surround where this touches the woodwork. Put you hand over the back to find it and when you press it only moves a 1mm or 2mm at most,  if it does not move at all then it's an early unit and does not have one. In this case the unit needs upgrading using a reset switch kit.

As for your problem, if your sure the thermistor is clean then I'd say theres a fault on the main control board. Give me a ring, numbers on left under 'outfit'

Don't talk to me about computers! Picked up some spy-ware or something like yesterday, it installs a spy-ware catcher without permission and then keeps telling be I've got critical problem. So I run the program and it finds three problems but refuses to delete them until I pay money!!

Thankfully I didn't come up on last weeks Coolly boat and already had my own free software installed, this though found 14 problems!, the main one being getting rid of this other one. A system restore and three hours later I can now get some work done!!!
