hi guys, i have fitted a new whale pressure switch, (the type that the external pump fits into) it comes already set to the factory setting. however having filled the onboard tank & the water heater & checked for leaks (non found) i primed the system to get any air out, but when i turn the taps off the pump still runs. i have tried adjusting the pressure switch in both directions but it still runs, it states in the insructions that this type of switch does tend to run on for about 15 secs so i have let it run on for quite a bit longer but it still won't switch off. any advice or help would be gratefully recieved.
Someone will know better than i but when the pump is running, is it emptying the water barrel or just running ? If it is, then it must be going somewhere. I dont have an on-board tank so cant help much more, mine used to run because of a leaking pipe so it didnt take me to long to find.
As indicated by above reply, you need to suss out if the water is being drawn in anywhere or if the barrel level stays the same. If the levels stays as-is, this would suggest a fault on the switch. Obviously if the levels going down, the water must be going somewhere and should be relatively easy to locate why.
Interested in the switch being 'pre-set' as their operation varies dependant on the output voltage of the battery i.e., you sometimes have to adjust the switch if on a non-EHU pitch and relying on battery supply only.
If you have a Whale tap with Micro-switch, it could be a dicky tap. I've got this problem and had to turn the mains switch off for the pump - until I bodged the tap. I'm still looking for bits, but it works.

some days you are the tree.
to adjust a whale pressure switch, fill and set up all as normal.screw the pressure switch clockwise all the way down.open a nearby tap.gently unscrew the pressure switch until it JUST starts clicking and you have a flow of water.close tap.clicking should go on for a few seconds and then stop.check drain is closed.add pump to the barrel of water before plugging into the caravan to prevent air locks.clicking should stop a few seconds after closing the tap.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I think the OP was referring to the new type of pressure switch that in theory does not need adjusting - it is "intelligent" according to Whale! New Whale pressure switch
