Hi there I am new to this we recently brought our first caravan. it is a freedom sunseeker 1989. I have replaced all external lights reflectors handles jockey wheel replaced towing electrics window seals trim. fitted new sockets removed battery new door handle fitted a transformer and rectifier water so water pump and lights all run off mains. It saves on weight.
But i have a lot water leaking in on front os and rear os. I have removed awning rail screws filled all holes with p40 and p38 but still leaking.
Any tips or advice please we thought these vans were fairly water tight.

Have you sealed behind front & rear grab handles, ie loosened them off, squirted in some sealant & tightened them down onto sealant? Water ingress around grab handles is common & often overlooked.

Could it be condensation? I have heard single skinned fibreglass caravans can sometimes suffer with condensation and that can sometimes create far more water than you would expect.

Thanks but the caravan has not been used for a couple of months. Also it is only on one side of the van dont think its condensation thanks anyways.

If i was you i would get some captain tolleys leak and seal,it worked a treat on my van.Got mine off e-bay.
Must be worth a go.

Was it leaking before you replaced lots of external things. The GRP itself cannot leak except at holes where screws, pipes, wires etc pass through. I had a '92 sunseeker in 1998, definitely no leaks or condensation.

Have you put sealant behind the awning rails as well as in the screw holes. The height of the damp may give a clue.

Just a point did you change the front marker lights I did and caused a leak. I made sure the holes where the wires came through were well sealed problem solved .And as above make sure grab handles are well sealed if I remember correctly they are in a few pieces

Yes I have replaced markers and I did seal behind them also my handles arent the original ones they are some that have the same hole diameter.
This morning however I removed interior panels behind markers and found water leaking from window rail in top corner. I have drilled out all screws filled in and refitted it with plenty of mastic and Drilled new holes. Also sanded down and sprayed up where awning rail sits I also found some cracks on roof so they have been ground out and filled and sanded. Hopefully this will sort it out ready for next year, thanks for advice.
