I'm looking for suggestions. I need a smaller tent than our Outwell Indy 8, which would do for 4 of us as a weekend tent. BUT I need to be able to put it up by myself (more or less) so I can go camping with the kids (8 & 6) 8 y.o. is VERY light - gets blown over in a brisk breeze, so I won't get a huge amount of help.

I could do with something that has 2 bedroom areas (either side by side or vis a vis) and enough room inside to stand up (especially for when hubby's with us!) and for the kids to sit around if it does rain.

Any (reasonable!) suggestions appreciated.

Hows about a Wynnster Curlew 6 or 8? I can put our one up single handed as there's no high apex poles to be threaded.

Hi,

I have a Coleman Lakeside 4 which I can pitch on my own (I'm just a bit over 5ft tall). It has 2 side by side bedroom pods, quite a roomy family area and all fits in a single bag which I can lift easily. The head room is 1.8m I believe.

I can get my Outwell Oregon 5 up on my own. That has the side by side bedroom pod with a zipped "wall" between them. 1 pod supposedly sleeps 3, the other 2. In reality I can fit 2 single airbeds in the 3 person pod, I don't know whether a double may fit in the 2person side.

Plenty of headroom right through, goes up as one, 3 poles only.

I have a Vango Oregon 600 as a weekend tent, and I can put that up on my own no problem. It`s definately easier if I get the kids to hold a pole or two and pass the mallet, but not necessary. Two pods, one of them huge, head height in living area and bigger pod and enough space in the living area to fit in a table, four chairs and a reasonable amount of kit.

Well after a good deal of browsing - I've bought the Outwell Oregon 5. Think I got it at a fairly good price - £139 from outdoor world in warrington. I've only seen it cheaper in one place and that was only a fiver. And as I collected it I paid no postage which I would have had to had I gone for the slightly cheaper one.

Had it up and down again in the garden this evening in less than 2 hours with minimal help from the kids. It looks good. Can't wait to go camping in a couple of weeks now - just wish the long range forcast for Cumbria looked a bit dryer. Still, plenty of time for it to change I hope.

I'd second Val's suggestion, I have Vango Oregon 400 which I can put up on my own, the 600 version is just one more pole. Takes me no more than 30mins to pitch.
