Sorry Im a pain, I know. Really having problems deciding on our 2nd tent. Ideally hoping to buy it this Wednesday, have looked through most of the tent info stuff looking for ideas, opinions, etc, but finding it soooo hard deciding.  We will be buying it from the United British Caravan place in Wideopen, as thats where we saw sooo many posibilites on sunday. I made a list of all the ones that seemed best for us, then put them in the search on this site when I got, tried to weigh up pros and cons.

So I guess what Im asking is:

In YOUR opinion, what is the best quality brand/make for tents, and would appreciate it if you could tell me the make of yours. I know everyone has their own opinion, so I will take all comments on board.

I think our budget is £200, and the only main thing we want with the tent is a large living area, and a height of no less than 200cm.

Thanks

Must make a decision in the next 48hrs!!! So that we have time for a tent practice before then weekend. ARGHHH

Sorry but I have nothing to compare quality or make with as we have just bought our first tent from UBC which is a Wynnster Pegasus 6 and had our first camping holiday last week and it really did us proud - was a joy to put up (oh and myself didnt argue once) and take down (not such a joy as I wanted to stay :))

I hope that you reach your decision and enjoy your new tent :)

Is that a can of worms I hear being opened?

One thing is for sure I don't think people will be recommending Rage or Leben tents.

Many will no doubt suggest Vango, Kyham, Outwell as being the better makes. Unless you want to go canvas but for £200 that's unlikely. Personally I favour Royal and Gelert as I feel they offer good VFM. My Memphis 5 has been great over this ..err.. Summer(?) not one leak and stood up well to the wind.

I enjoyed this site's review on the Royal Pescara, maybe they're more popular than I thought.

Whichever make you go for just remember there can be rogues from any manufacturer but that doesn't mean it's indicative of the quality of the rest of the range.

Happy camping.

For £200 and a good size living area with plenty of headroom try looking at the Peakland Matlock from Yeomans Outdoors.

We have the Peakland Stanedge, good value for money and quite capable.

I'm not going to mention the nightmare we had with a Stormproof USA tent we once purchased...........D'oh, I just did !!!!!!!.

Just to add a brand that not too many others will mention. We have an Aztec Galeria 6. Good brand (just not been around as long as some of the others, but well thought of by those who have them). This is a straightforward tunnel. 6 berth - can be set up as 1,2 or 3 bedroom. Good living space. Tall throughout - my OH 6'2" has no problems. Easy to put up and down - my 5 year old & I do it together! We got ours for £239 (rrp350 to give a ballpark)

We have a Wynnster Orion.

Massive living area, porch, 2 large bedrooms and a living area height of 225cm.

Easy to put up, although does take about 45 mins.

Quality and finish of Wynnster is superb and I can't recommend it enough.

Cost just under £200 last Summer so maybe less now.

Hi

We have a Vango DLX 800 purchased about 41/2 years ago. Excellent tent. Plenty of living room, head space and bedroom capacity. We can put ours up and peg in about 30 minutes. I would recommend Vango as a quality tent.

Good luck in your new purchase.

Like Dhaysi I bought a Wynnster Pegasus 6 from UBC, except it was online with Awnings.co.uk (their internet shop).  Used it for the first time last week, and the quality is good.  It withstood some nasty wind/rain in Cumbria.  Living area is excellent/roomy in both area and head height.  I think it'll work out just fine for us - two adults and two children, albeit older child is taller than me.

How about this sunncamp http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/shop/Detail.asp?ProductID=1619 half price too

I have had a sunncamp orbit xl for years and it has never let me down. Easy to put up and this tent is a good shape which should keep you out of trouble on pitches

I  have a Coleman Darwin 5 and it has a height of 205cm throughout tent. Sleeps 5 and is easy to erect. Cost £219 but have since seen it cheaper.

We bought the Wynnster Cygnus 8 from UBC. really impressed with it and it has withstood some heavy rain and strong winds. Only cost £150 as well however it is a very large tent.
