After our families first outing in are new Aspen, which ended in disaster as it leaked from the groundsheet drips from the outer and a small tear in the pourch Vango have upgraded us to a Zambezi was just wondering if anyone has got one and what they think about it as we have not seen one as yet.
Thanks to all who reply.

We had been looking at the Aspen last year but finally purchased an Outwell Vermont XL a couple of months ago....BUT....prior to purchasing we had been talking to the Vango rep at an exhibition and the most notable difference between the Zambezi and the Aspen was that the Zambezi was fly first pitching and hence prevented the risk of a soaking before even getting the tent up.
Maybe someone else may have further first hand experience to comment on as mine is limited.
We are going to buy our first tent and like Zambezi as it has Fly sheet first but only found one review which was not positive, anyone else have knowledge on this one?
Thanks,
Rob

I have the 500DLX Zambezi and what a great looking tent and inside plenty on height and space and not forgetting how light it is in the tent.
Right we erected our 1st one in the garden and it leaked to our disappointment so we sent it back to where we got it from at an expense on £27 postage. We were sent a new one with an extra footprint I decided to get to protect my investment. Took the kids away to Cromer, started erecting the tent and noticed the one door zip was broken so the door would not close!!! Managed to get the zip on and sort of temporally zipped the door close. The tent was up and hey one door not usable but that was ok as the kids were over happy to be under canvas. The wind picked up and then the rain started and yes you guessed it, leaks started to spring up all over the place. The leaks sprung from all the window zips, and every place a join was made and then started above the inners. This time I am not going to let Vango pass the buck as in all honesty the tent broke my bank and we were on a budget holiday. What makes me mad is that I never received an apology from Vango to date for the 1st instance or any follow up to give their reason the 1st tent leaked and I am expected to pay £27 for each return.....NOT ON!!!
I have noticed that a few tent dealers are reducing the price of the same tent and will only order if requested. Has this something to do with dealers having to deal with so many complaints, I wonder.
I would love to know where I stand as a consumer as why should I pay for the tents to be returned when the fault of the tent is with the manufacturer and what are my chances of getting a different model all together as there is no way I want another leaker.
Besides the leaks, the tent is very draughty in winds and is very noisy (sounds as if the guy ropes are pulled out and the bedroom outer windows flap all night long.) Such a pity for a great looking tent and I will update what reply I receive from Vango as I have to give them the benefit of the doubt.
So many mixed reports about the same tents!! – it seems like consistency is the key issue with manufacturer’s, as far as quality is concerned.
I have just bought and pitched an 2007 model Aspen 700dlx which over a 48 hr period was subjected to high winds, extremely heavy rain, puddling underneath the tent with no leaks or problems at all. On the same site was a 500dlx which looked wet, discoloration and patches where water had penetrated. My neighbour with years camping experience had a new Zambezi which didn’t like the wind and was leaking. Buying a tent can be confusing !

A friend has just purchased a Zambezi 700dlx, his first tent, he's not had it up yet but he's planning on going off this weekend ...
i really do hope everything is ok for him as he's gone from being a caravaner to a tenter ...
Will let you know the outcome ...
Hope all goes well. I would suggest pegging the rear two corners tight as I found the rear of the tent the weakest link and get all the guy ropes up and he will be fine.
Hi we saw a zambezi the other day in a showroom and were VERY VERY impressed it was light and airy and bright and well designed - lots of lovely features. in fact we liked it so much we asked for more info on it. The first thing the guy said was _will it just be you two putting it up (which ordinarily it would be). Apparently it is really heavy with the steel poles which cross over on the roof and in the wind it would be a real task. As soon as he had said it and actually looked I am thinking he is right - it does look extremely heavy. He said if you were used to putting tents up it is not so bad but we are novices. It is a very very nice looking tent though. We were also put off by the single review on here (in the review section).
Just found this site and their prices are by far the cheapest I have seen. Have a look here
Out of the two I would def go with the 700 as there is so much more space inside :)
My friend saw the 700dlx at Go Outdoors at Wakefield for £249.99, when he went to the assistant they were sold out :(
So went to Outdoor World in Huddersfield where the had them in stock at £379, they have a price match policy so he mentioned the price at Go Outdoors, so the girl rang them to confirm this price, and obviously they did confirm the price so they let him have it at £249 ...
