Hi all - bought an Outwell Hartford XL off ebay and the guy included 'a few pegs' and on reading about Delta pegs here I've now got 14 of those. Keen to put the tent up in the garden for the first time, but don't know how many pegs it actually needs... doesn't say anywhere on the tent bag or online...

Anybody got one and know the answer?

Nicky in Derby (just back form a wet week in a static in N Devon where hubby couldn't stop saying 'glad we aren't camping' every bloomin' day...! and today he suggested putting tent back on ebay without bothering t try it out! Its taken years for me to persuade him to try camping!! I'm not beat yet...!)

Don't have the XL but do have the L.

We only use the Deltas on the guy ropes.  We originally bought 15 but should have counted the guys first so need about another 5 (will prob buy 10).

We sometimes double peg too and tend to take extra pegs and use rock pegs too. We only use the pegs  that came with the tent for pegging out the groundsheet in the porch.

Hi Keely - so your tent came with pegs?  What does double peg mean?

Just put 2 pegs in each ring where the poles go onto the pins and the bedroom pod corners - that's just the way we do it - can't say what others do. (one peg in each other pegging out place place and the deltas for the guy ropes)

We only didn't use the ones that came with the tent for the tent because they didn't really look up to much (from experiences with awnings trying to take flying lessons)

ps  buy the best pegs you can afford if you need to buy some.

OH says we only have 10 deltas and need another 5!!!

Right, so if you have 10 and need another 5, I wasn't far off buying 14 then!!

Thanks!  If the weather forecast is fair for tomorrow I might tempt hubby to help get (the tent) up then.

We had an XL and made sure we pegged out all the loops and rings from the tent itself. We didn't need to peg out all the guyropes as we had really good weather whilst we used it.  That isn't the case since having changed tents over the years, now I will peg out every slightest thing as the weather changes so much!  

Pegs are an easy thing to lose and if like us you have more than 1 tent, you may end up with a "general" tent peg bag.  We sold a tent on Ebay and bought 3 packs of good quality new pegs to go with it explaining that the original pegs were lost in time into our peg-bag.
