Calling all Cabanon Experts, I finally managed to pitch my new (to me) Cabanon Boulogne and it's lovely. However, I have been unable to find any information about it on the net what so ever, even on the Cabanon Owners Club website. I think it may have been know as the Cabanon Emilie as well, but it definitely says Bolougne on the bag and inner tent. It has a kitchen window area to the rear and a back door which can be seen on the interior photo.

Below are some pics, I love the burnt orange and grey colourway and I have the original rather lush, colourful curtains and roof lining. It's in absolutely brilliant condition, even the rubbers are not perished

What I need to know is does anyone know when this tent was made or have any information about it??

PS, Please excuse the shoddy pitching it was a quick one to check everything was OK.

PPS, finally sorted the photos I hope.

Nice tent  A bit like a forerunner to the Andorra. This is only a guess, not a known fact, but I'd say it was probably mid 1980's.

Where's all the other Cabanon owners when you need them?

I'm not 100% sure but to my knowledge, the Boulogne and Bergerac were distributed in the early to mid nineties. Are almost exactly the same dimensions as the Andorra (in the case of the Boulogne) and Antigua (Bergerac) so should measure roughly 430x380 cm
If there is a Model number on the bag or a label sewn into the tent itself, this might give you some indication to the exact year it was made by the numbers included as is often the case with cabanon's....

I too like the colours and i also find that with this size frame tent the poles/ canvas are really easy and manageable to erect....looks like you bagged a real bargain there too :)

Thanks guys that great! The model number is B514 which isn't too helpful on the year (either that or its a really old tent!!)

I measured it for a groundsheet and the size is indeed approximately that given by 3madboyz. So at least I have some indication of when it was made and it was probably a forerunner to the Andorra.

I'm really pleased with it, as I said, it's in perfect condition and all the spring are in place meaning its a case of just fitting the 3 different pole sections together and slipping the canvas on. I could probably do it by myself if I need to but then my little Eldorado would never get a trip out!!

Thank you once again

I think that B514 means that the tent was made in 1995, usually the first number after the series number (A,B,C etc) denotes the year of manufacture....

Definitely looks like a predecessor to the Andorra, just missing the pop out kitchen, which isn't a problem. Do you know if there is a dividing curtain to close off the kitchen area??
I love the layout of our Andorra and the fact that all the kitchen gubbings are kept out of the way, I'm pretty sure you'll love your Boulogne too....... happy camping

That looks in lovely condition and I prefer the colour of your older version to our Andorra, even if it doesn't have a curtain to shut off all the kitchen clutter it would be very easy to make one.  That's why we chose the Andorra, so the mess was out of sight.

Good buy there!

Helen

It does have a roof lining and matching window curtains, but not one to divide off the kitchen area, but I'm sure it would be simple enough to make one. I usually have a utility tent that I cook in, but maybe I'll leave it behind for the long weekend trip at the end of April and see how I get on.

Once again, thanks for the info guys. I'm sure I'll enjoy the Boulogne very much!! I just feel so posh having a Cabanon, even if it is an oldie!

Wow, what a great tent: the colours are unusual and look very contemporary.I really like the idea of a back door.

Have tremendous fun in her and think of all the co-ordinating accessories you now NEED to buy...

Lucky you

Hi Moneypeni, can you tell me if the bedroom areas can be used as one large bedroom? Is it possible to not use the room divider somehow?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Sjray, yes you can use the bedroom pod as one big bedroom, that's how we use it. The divider just roles up and ties up on the ceiling of the pod.

Thanks Upitgoes, its a great tent, we've used it twice now, once in strong winds and more recently, in the heatwave we've just had and it held up brilliantly both times. I love it and the Cabanon quality is just excellent.

I've noticed that there is one for sale on Ebay from a seller in Essex (Linky) and the cheeky so and so has used my photos. Needless to say, I have sent them a note asking them amend their description saying the photos are of a similar then and not the one that is actually for sale!!

That's a coincidence because it's the exact one I was looking to buy! The chap has it advertised on Ebay and Gumtree.

I bought a rather large Cabanon Rotunde last year for a family trip but this years it's just the mrs and me so need something smaller and more manageable hence my question on the Boulogne. Looks like it will do the job.

Thanks, Steve

Depends what you call strong winds, we had a cabanon virtually destroyed by the wind when we were kids.

When we had our Cabanon we always had two pairs of screw in ground anchors and a couple of ratchet straps at hand, to throw over the top, in case it ever got too windy. Only ever had to use them a couple of times, but on one of those occaisions there were other frame tents destroyed, whilst ours stayed put.
