Can anyone offer Feedback on the Beyond Corvus 6+2 please?
I have recently purchased the Gelert Beyond Corvus 6+2 before they sold out in many places, which would lead me to believe that there are a few owners out there!!...
I am interested in whether any of the other corvus owners seem to have the same problems that I am experiencing.
1. Groundsheet doesn't peg down close enough to ground and the fly doesn't reach the ground and is 4/5 inches too short which leads to..
2. slightest breeze lifts the sewn in groundsheet a foot off the ground ( I now call it the bouncy castle), this is with a light breeze which doesn't give me with much confidence should a proper windy day appear when pitched as it would lift the tent and off it goes.
Now I love the room in this tent and ticks all the boxes apart from this "design fault".
I haven't spoken to Gelert yet, thought I would see if there is a general problem with this on the forum from the users.

Hi HON65, welcome to the forum.
I don't have the corvus , and can only think of one thing ,the flysheet shouldnt be 4 inches above the ground , so are there any tension straps that could be loosened off to maybe lower the flysheet a bit ?

Thanks for a reply, the groundsheet has straps with ring/pin on the end, these are adjustable but even loose the fly will not touch the ground.
I looked at this tent a couple of times when shopping for which to buy and cannot believe I never spotted this, then I didn't know what I should be looking for, as a newbie and was concentrating on the rooms/size doors etc....
Dont get me wrong at this stage I am not ruling out "user error" but believe me i have tried all sorts of adjustments!!.
The object is to get some feedback from other owners first to see if this is more widespread..

Your first call should be the retailer though, not gelert . they will probably direct you back to the seller to sort it out .
Good luck and keep us informed of the outcome .

jogl, thanks for the reply.. have you the carpet at all, wondering if this would help keep a flat floor. did you experience any problems with the floor lifting inside???
other than that what a cracking tent, so much room.

Hi all
I have just got this tent and put it up my self in just over an hour.
I have also got he problem of fly sheet too high from the ground but only
at the front door end , so I think with a bit of jiggery pokkery I should be
able to gert the ground sheet to fit correctly.I went back to the dealer to
have a look at the display tent they had out and the ground sheet fitted
perfectly.I will re post when I have sussed wats wrong.
Also ther are some huge black clouds on the horizon so it looks liks
it's about to get tested for water proofness very soon.

hi robbo71, glad there are more of us out there.. you have it spot on, when I pitch the rear of the tent (bedrooms) is flush to the ground, and the front ends up way off??.
if you can get the front to fit flush(er) then please post the results
p.s. I have emailed Gelert (yesterday) no response as yet, I will be dissappointed in them if they cannot be bothered to reply.

My husband almost pitched the tent my himself. I really only helped by holding onto the guyropes at the front end so he could get the tent into a better position.

really really easy to pitch, no problems, put poles in and raise one end & guy to hold up & work your way down. now I have pitched both times front to rear, but it has been suggested to go rear to front??..keep me posted on your corvus's
Moderator, this needs to be an owners thread.

Hon65
Just read your post on how you pitched the tent and you did it the same way as me from front to back.Maybe this is the problem with the ground sheet being raised at the front as like you say gelert recomend pitching from back to front .I think I may do it again that way and see if it,s any better. Also the tent got a right good soaking last night when we had a real heavy down poor for about 2hrs and not one drop anyware inside the tent .
Croutledge
The tent is very easy to pitch on your own I did this in an hour on my 1st try but saying that I dont think it would be easy if it was windy though.
