today is B H monday 31 may, me and the wife are going away in our filey 6 on friday 4th june for about 2 weeks, to yorkshire if interested, which is the best way to pitch the tent from the back to the front or the oppesite way.

as there is only the two of us and my wife is only a short arse 4'11" and we have only roughly put it up in the garden with a little help.

if anybody can help i would be most grateful.

Hi Jewels 756

We,ve got a Lulworth 4 so basicaly the same.

Best to peg out the rear corners at the bedroom end .

Insert the curved roof section closest to the bed room then put the main uprights in and lift up so you can put the pins at the bottom in(make sure the straps at the pin have been slackened off first).Samething with the rest of the poles inc canopy.

Once up peg out the guy ropes at the canopy end to hold keep it all up.

Hope this helps.

I looked on the outwell site to see how to put up one of their tents as mine is similar.   Found this useful.

If it helps we've just come back from our second camp in a Filey 6.  We put it up the 'recommended' way in the garden ie all poles in, pull up and walk them out and found it very heavy.

Putting it up for real we followed the advice of Gary Cross and:

  • Peg out the four corners
  • Make sure the side door is open
  • Put in the middle pole and lift it - Temporalily guy it for stability
  • Put the poles in either side of the middle one at a time raising as you go.
  • Put the rear pole in and raise
  • Put the porch pole in and raise
  • Close the door
  • Complete pegging and re-site temporary guys as required

Hope this helps, we've had the tent up in 30 mins ie stable but not fully pegged, both times and it is very simple to do.

Enjoy your trip!
