There is mention in some posts of which tents are being discontinued or kept for 2009 is there any way of finding this out particularly for Outwells or do you have to be in the trade?

Been looking at Nebraska XL which I think is being discontinued and is coming down in price.

Would like to know if there is a new model coming with  the 2+2 bedroom layout. Really like the Idaho  XL but have got to have 4 bedrooms, teenage daughter who demands her own room.

Any info would be appreciated to help me decide whether to buy now or wait.

If they are still doing it, the Monty 12 has this layout or the Colorado 8 if you can get hold of one.

Both are the steel poles and pretty hardy tents..

I couldnt get hold of a Nebraska so ended up with a Montana, that has the bedrooms you require, try taking a look at that.

Hi

There is a new model for 09 called the Maryland XL OR XXL from Outwell. These are like the Nebraska xl and xxl but have a bigger porch and slightly better pole layout.

Prices from all the tent suppliers are going up up and up. We are looking at 25-30% increases.

The reasons for this are the price of oil, which polyester and plastic is made of. The price of labour in China now with the new labour laws. The cost of shipping to the UK. We have seen higher prices at the petrol pumps but these have crept up over 12 months. The tent prices were set at the begining of the year ish and noe we will see the big price rise in one go.

I think if prices increased every year by 5% it would be far better but this isnt how the world works so we go years with no increase or even negative increases then we get a big increase in one go.

So the price of a Nebraska xl in 07 was £450 and in 08 it was £450. Now being cleared for next to nothing but the Maryland xl will be about £599.

The Nebraska xl if it was being made for 09 would sell for about £575, so this is about inline with all the other tent brands.

Gc

If you were interested in the Nebraska, you might like to look at the Royal Pescara 8, it is virtually identical, but also comes with a front canopy. I paid £399 for mine form World of Camping. This price includes the canopy.

We have used it all this season, and have been really pleased with it.

And if tent prices are going up, then get your tent now while its a bargain!

I got the same info on increasing prices from where I got my Monty 6. Next year's price is apparently going to be £399 (I paid £289).

We had a Nebraska XXL 2007 model due to damage we have just got ourselves a Nebraska XL 2008 model for £399. Got it from Caseys camping near Chester today. I know they had six in stock and they are available to order on-line. Also had the footprint groundsheet in stock for £22.99. Plus the kids room if you really wanted to go the whole hog.

Hope this helps

Have been lucky enough to see the 2009 pre season workbooks from which I made my order and its been confirmed that the tent I have ordered is the first one sold. As Gc mentioned earlier prices have gone up considerably and no I am not in the trade either.

I have just ordered a 2008 Royal Pescara for £349.99,  We were going to wait until early next year to replace our tent but after reading this thread we couldn't have afforded the price rises

Do you know what Outwell models are being introduced and what are being withdrawn for 2009 ?

Somebody has told me they are doing away with the blue tents ?

May be it's just me but surely a cheaper 2008 model is better than a 30% more 2009 model. lets face it 2009 model will soon be old hat anyway.

if i'd of bought my wifes new picasso at full price it would have cost me over 20k. in stead i opted to wait 1 year and 8k miles later to buy this model at 13k. now tell me what's best!!!
