We were away this week which gave me an opportunity to try out the cable-tie solution to the Outwell Minnesota side door rain hood. It worked a treat; no stress on the fabric and zipping/unzipping the side door was a breeze.
What a shame that it was necessary to retro-correct something so elementary - as I have moaned several times before, Outwell have either allowed a fundamental design fault to slip through the system or have got a problem with their quality control.
I have included a photo in my gallery to illustrate the cable-ties in action.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes

Hi Former scout
Did your try and put the pole for the side door underneath the the main tent pole, instead of on top,I tried this, and it works a treat.without any cable-ties
John
I did read a comment on this, I think by your good self, and did toy with the idea. But I was concerned that it would bend the fibreglass pole that little bit more and I didn't want to risk it breaking, which I know some members have experienced. So I decided not to risk it and use the cable-ties.
The 2008 montana has an alloy pole for the porch - maybe you could get hold of one by ordering it as a part from an Outwell dealer? Should remove the worry about the pole snapping.

Thanks, MikeR760, I was aware of the change for the Montana but I don't think that the new pole would work for the Minnesota; my impression is that the canopy pole on the Monty forms a different shape (more U-shaped) than the Minny.
