I love our Gelert Linea 6, but I would really like a little more living space either with a canopy or an extension. As its a rare tent there arent any off the peg add ons, so it means i will need to get a universal one.
Any ideas?
Heres a pic of the tent at the front to give an idea of the area.

That is a very awkward roof shape at the front for the normal 'off the peg' canopies, however, as Keely has said it seems an ideal shape for a tarpaulin because that front roof pole could simply stick into the eyelet of a tarp and then the tarp could be guyed either side a bit like a ridge tent.
Try a tarp over that centre spike & a couple of adjustable poles.
I use a Quechua 3m tarp mostly on my Rosas 4 (added couple of eyes to match pole positions) works really well, on my gallery pics tarp is rolled to half width with spare material held up by some sprung grippers, When required I drop the spare to make a front wall or if I want more space I open it out to full size. I use a selection of adjustable poles depending how I want it, if opened to full size I put 1 pole up in the middle to make a high point & sometimes hang cammo netting on 2 sides to provide a bit more shelter on longer camps.
Makes a great area for cooking.

I've got a tarp that I could use, but Im looking more for something that could go round the sides and be enclosed rather than being open like our tarp. Im thinking that I could get perhaps the coleman universal canopy and put an eyelet in so as it could hook onto the sticky up bit of the pole at the front of the tent.

I'd normally look at windbreaks for round the sides, but I get a bit fed up tripping over guylines.

As I said I've used cammo netting for sides, closes it in quite well without catching the wind too much, got some bits 2m x 6m netting, I just hook it over poles, grip to tarp here & there & use some pegs to pin it at bottom, this has stood up to some pretty nasty weather even when using my larger tarp (4 x 4.5).

Food for thought Indeed! I like the idea that gumball has of netting. this would also take up less precious packing space and still maintain a bit of privacy. Thanks All. I recognize that tent Keely

Gumball, I know its only February but I'm sure you must be in line for some kind of Most Creative Use of a Tarp in 2010 prize. Netting round the sides sound a great idea.
Imaginative, practical, simple and neat. I like it!

Would be very keen to see the tarp thread start up! After last year where we obtained most of the things we need for camping, I think I have withdrawal symptoms so am putting lots of energy into looking at canopy options for our tent side door. Pics would be great!
