Hi All,

Thought you might like to see some pictures of the new pyramid tent from Hypercamp, the Alaska.

It's a family size tent, made from 100% cotton, and looks fantastic, IMHO.

More details here Link

Anyway, here are the pictures

Hi Trickey tree. That's a great looking tent. We are looking to get the palomas 6 when the money allows. But the Alaska is interesting me as well now. Geoff

P

Does anyone know if either tent has mesh on the front door?

I have the Eldorado.
Can't fault it for the price I paid.
If there is a downside it's the number of pegs (40+).
Easy to erect solo even in windy conditions.

I bought the Alaska as I love Pyramids (and after losing my 5M in the storm in Oct needed a new tent) but found the pegging on the Palamos to be a massive pain so sold that last year. I haven't had chance to try the Alaska yet so your pics will keep me going, thank you.

Jayner. Did you actually see the Alaska pitched somewhere in this country, or just buy it because you know they are good tents? I would love to see one in the flesh. Geoff.

PS Or I could always pop round for tea and give you a hand if you pitch it in the garden lol.

Geoffprinter if I'm honest, I'd been waiting for Obelink to stock the Alaska since I saw it in their magazine last year (they'd called it the Classic in the mag). I've bought 3 tents from Obelink and the quality and customer service has been great ( they arranged for a return on an Esvo I bought as it wasn't what I'd thought). I loved the Palamos but the pegging out was just too much.

Unfortunately my garden is too small to pitch it but we'll be testing it Feb half term somewhere, failing that we'll be in Kent for Easter.

That's a great looking tent, nice to have the vents at the back as well, I bought my friend Bills tent the Guadoloupe, but it doesn't have vents and my Noumea was a bit stuffy in warm weather.

I'm thinking off having some put in, but will have to find out the price first.

Enjoy your new tents.

Had a look at a few posts and pics on here about the palomos and you could be right about the pegging out it does look an awful lot of work for a short stay. I love my bell tent anyway. But if you see a strange little man looking at your new Alaska when your camping in Kent it might be me. Geoff

I have reservations about this tent, in that it has a sewn in groundsheet, weighing nearly 30kg without the two door panels that are detachable!

Not sure if I can lift that kind of weight on my own.

I actually don't mind the SIG idea on this one dk. Unlike our bell tent which has a ZIG so we can roll up the sides. So apart from the weight issue of the Alaska I think I prefer it with SIG as it makes for less work pitching. Geoff

Hi DK

You might be right in that for one person this would be a big tent to pitch and move.

My favourite new small tent is this one, the Cerca, from Atomatent Link. A perfect tent for one or two I would think.

Hi

I'm a single mom now, who loves camping but sadly had to sell my palamos as I couldn't have managed it on my own with a 2 and 5 year old boys. I'm really really tempted by the Alaska.....but worried about the weight of it. I totally love canvas pyramid tents and bells are just not for me.The Alaska looks perfect for me and the monsters to go off for the wweekends. Can anyone give me advice re:weight
