Any pitching tips? I'll be pitching it solo, was planning to do it the same way as the Icarus; peg out the corners then put the poles in one at a time starting from the middle. Will this work with a bigger tent?
Happy new tent!!
I managed to solo pitch my large polycotton tunnel that way, both for my initial practice pitch, and my first pitch proper...
However, the first, and most notable, difference I see between my tent and yours is the length of the pole sleeves. Mine only cover the roof, so even when standing on the middle pole, I can (reasonably comfortably) feed the next pole through, despite them being big and awkward (when made up into the full arch).
A quick look at yours shows the sleeves being a lot longer, coming right down to approx. knee height, and I'd fear once it was stood up on the central pole, the ground would get in the way of getting the remaining poles in!
I'm guessing of course, as I have no experience of this tent (other than admiring pics of it... more than once!
I take it you've seen this Video?

In all honesty, J&C, yes, I believe that would still be awkward, at best. Even feeding one section at a time, that leaves a lot of pole sections on the ground trying to tangle themselves together, plus the fact that the gap between bottom of pole sleeve and the ground probably equates to half the length of one single pole section? (I think I had 2 full pole sections exposed below each side of my sleeves, when erected).
I have a similar set up now (on my awnings), where the sleeve goes all the way to the bottom, but I can unzip that sleeve to effectively reduce it's length, for this very purpose. I probably feed my pole through about 2ft of sleeve, before zipping it back closed, so where as the design on my tent (awnings) make that job easier than my Filey, the design of yours appears to make that more difficult!
I'd be surprised if you can feed your poles through whilst the tent is stood up, and expect you'll need to feed them all in, before standing up, as per the vid... but I must stress it's complete guesswork on my part, not having seen this tent in the flesh, and I could well be wrong. In fact, I sincerely hope I am.
Hopefully, someone who has this experience will pipe up with something more positive to say. Failing that, I guess you'll just have to wait, and give it a try.
I'd be very interested in the results though, when you do try it... particularly if it's a success! Good luck!
