In a determined effort to make sure we get more breaks next year, I'm compiling a list of localish sites that we could use for weekend getaways. I've gone through the site reviews on here, and have about 10-15 sites as looking good.
Does anyone know of any sites in Suffolk/Norfolk that they would particularly recommend? I'm looking at small quiet sites with basic washing facilities.
Thanks :)

Try Sandy Gulls at Mundesley a great site everything you need like shops very handy a nice quiet site with views to die for only down side is some of the site is on a slight slope so you need some blocks. Ian

I maybe should have added that im in a tent not a van. I did look at Colks but lack of showers is a negative really -unfortunate as it does look very pretty. Sandy Gulls looks like its more for vans than tents.
But thank you, any other suggestions welcome.

Are you a member of C&CC if so there are dozens of CS sites in the area and several have showers. I'm not too keen on recommending any specific one as it depends on what you personally like and also the weather when visiting. Some sites I can think of are lovely in a dry spell but more like swamps if it rains a lot (most of this year!).

Yes, I am a member and tend to trust their own sites. Not used any of the certified so far, though found a couple that look good. Weather always changes places and even the best sites can seem dreary in really bad weather.

milestone cs site in Hainford is one I use a lot, just outside Norwich on the A140 heading towards Aylsham, plenty of room also has shower /toilet and free to use washing machine, public transport just outside the entrance.

yet another full timer,
I agree with Poppy9560 that Cliff House at Dunwich is a great site but it's not a small site and it can get very busy. We have just returned from spending a week at Shrublands near Overstrand. A nice site with separate section for caravan and camping club members. The only thing I would say about this site is that we walked to the beach several times and it took us about 40 minutes each time, not the 25 minutes stated on their website.
Scratby is on my list already :) I will have a look at Milestone and Shrublands, thank you.
Cliff House looked too big a site really for what I'm looking for. I have to admit any site that has the words 'holiday park' following its name makes me look away rather quickly. Too many years being taken to Billing Aquadrome by my grandparents I suspect, left an indelible mark.

We stayed at The Secret Garden, Wisbech, this year.
Fantastic site and owners could not be more helpful. Would certainly recommend as one of the best sites we have been to in this country. We had a very relaxing, fun time and the kids had a ball. It felt very safe there and rules are very relaxed. The owners said their main aim was to build memories for children, and they certainly did that with ours.
If you decide on "Scratby" and want an Electric pitch which are bigger than non electric its best to book early rather than later as these tend to get booked up.When we were there in July & August all electric pitches, which are round the outside, were full the centre non electric was nearly empty, Staff told us it had been like it all year. If you dont want early morning sun have a pitch by the road if you want the sun go for playground side.

I always go non-EHU anyway, so sounds like I will have no problems.
Wisbech is in a no-go area I'm afraid, that whole north Cambs belt has too many memories and people we don't want to cross paths with!
