thats quite confusing info then..lol y have the sign up if its not a cc & c site thats false advertising!! never mind won't get a reply back then...lol ty all anyhow
Accreditation or listing signs are quite normal. For instance an hotel may have an AA star sign outdoors - which doesn't mean it is owned/run by the AA! nor is it false advertising.
I can understand if you have never stayed on a CC&C site, that you wouldn't recognise their style - but they do all have very obvious appearance including signage, logo'd uniforms, booking in and arrival procedures, site rules, cleaning routines etc,. Once you've tried one, it would be unmistakeable in future.

Hmph!. Well it WAS misleading, because the original poster was misled into thinking it was a C & CC site. Which was probably the intention - why else use the Club's logo? The Big Sites Book is just a listing of sites. It says that it does not imply an endorsement or recommendation. Sites are "inspected" at least once every two years, but only to see that they do actually have the facilities they advertise, not to check on the quality of them or of the site's management. So the fact that a site is "listed" means about as much as the fact that it's listed in the phone book. So why does the C & CC let these sites use and display the Club's logo? Especially as non-members don't know this, and are likel to interpret the logo as meaning that it's a Club site. And why would a site use the logo, if not to mislead its punters into thinking that it has some kind of associaion or affiliation or approval of the Club? Seems to me that the C & CC should either apply a quality criteria and carry out adequate inspection, or else stop allowing unassociated sites from using its logo onsite or in their advertising.
Looking through "The Big Sites Book", it mentions that listed sites are visited every other year to ensure that facilities are satisfactory and correctly listed, and can quite easily not be accepted from re-entering the book if thought appropriate. I've been told from owners (wardens, call them what you will) that the CCC do act on complaints if considered appropriate. And of course things may have changed since the book went to press (the current BSB is now effectively 2 years old), new owners, new ethoses etc. - one of the advantages of the fluid medium of the web...
