Hi,
I've been searching for a campsite for a group of around 40 people. We need somewhere close to a train station, with a function room and a decent toilet and shower block. We'd like it to be in the south as a lot of people will be coming from London.

I'm really struggling so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks,
Nicola

Hi

I think you might be better of looking for somewhere that has a "Rally field" as these cater for large parties

Im sorry I dont know of anywhere in the south, but I do know of a function room in Derbyshire which is part of a Country club complex which has loos and showers, and although they are not a campsite as such, they do allow people to camp as part of an enthusiasts group if they book a catered function with them.

They have three suites on offer, from a full three course meal in the restaurant, which can seat upto 50, to the smaller function room which takes upto 45 for a buffet, then the main banqueting suite with a capacity for 200.

The place is also licenced, and the cheapest (but very good) Buffet menu is £12.95 per head, they also serve bar meals in the restaurant and a good sunday roast with all the trimmings for around £8 a head. Our daughter is hireing the place for her wedding reception, and the nearest railway station is only a couple of miles away by bus or taxi at Belper.

google Lumb Farm Country Club, Marehay, nr Ripley, Derbyshire. if you think this may be suitable for your needs.

roundhills in the New Forest has a rally field. Brockenhurst station is on the main Bournemouth - Waterloo line. No function room but I think a couple of pubs in Brockenhurst can be hired out or parts can.

We are having difficulty finding suitable sites with rally fields and facilities that want us in the summer. We are basically a camping rally with a few touring caravans the odd trailer tent and maybe a motor home or camper van or two. We number about sixty five units, either singles, couples or families over a fortnight and centrally book through a committee with little work for the site. We are thirty four years established and go camping for a fortnight in the summer. We also have a few of us who would like the availability of caravans or lodges etc to hire on site or very close by. We usually have about 150 people over the fortnight with all ages baby to over seventy included. We travel round the UK in a ten year cycle and have seven established sites but need three more and are struggling to find any.

Dan, this is one of our favourite rally fields which we use through C&CC. The site has its own play area but there is a gate from the rally field which leads into the local playpark and village hall where we've had evening socials. The rally field is large with plenty of room for games/activities and plenty of walks around. No EHU but use of facilities.
