Hi

There is a sight in crowden it is a camping and caravanning club site but the walks look fantastic and you have the lovely mountains and veiws from your tent. try looking on the ccc website for more info only problem is it is a tent only site so depends what outfit you have.

I plan on going myself this year and have looked on internet for local walks they look fantastic. another place is Syke farm campsite which is also for tents only near buttermere if you put the name in search engine it should come up with the site.

Hope you find somewhere!

What part of the country?

We really enjoyed Bracelands in the Forest of Dean with great walks all around the campsite.  Good showers too!

Come on if we leave now we can make it before it's dark. How many times have we heard that?

Crowden is great for walks and scenery but beware the midges on the campsite there are loads and they never leave you alone.

bracelands have a 3 dog maximum, most of the sites Ive looked at that take dogs are the same which is why I asked if you were taking all 11 at once.
good luck with your search.

Its bizarre!  Back to Nicholston then. Rules and regs are fine, especially if you have no common sense, and boy we've ALL seen those folks at campsites! but there are folks such as us who just want a quiet life and mind our own biz.

But there are so many no smoking/no bbq/ no kids/ no this no that, thats ok, but what if your philosophy is to tread gently wherever you go?

Caravanning is great you get to leave the tv at home and watch the folks, its a great study for a phd!

whats happened to the farmer that gives you a bit of field, and you get on with it? i dont want to camp at butlins! ugh

Llyn Gwynant Campsite might be what your looking for, they dont state a restricion on the number of dogs, just that they are on a lead.

Crowden is at Woodhead Road, Crowden, Glossop SK131HZ
The phone number is 01457 866057. It has good facilities and the little shop is well stocked. The walks are fab, just take some midge repellant as there is water near by. We went in June and had to buy repellent on site, don't know if it's the same all year round though. There aren't any midges off site. You can walk off in any direction and there are maps on the site giving you ideas of where to go.

Crowden

Have you looked at the Caravan Club CL sites?  They range from all EHU to park yourself in whichever corner of the field you fancy. I've much the same attitude as you. Not antisocial, but like to get away and do my own thing in peace and quiet.  I've found that farm sites are the best and most accomodating especially if you make the effort to engage in half a conversation and get to know them.

Now come on, don't start all that 'snobby' Caravan Club stuff off again !!!

If you don't feel comfortable with Caravan Club CLs, or if you have a tent, why not try a Camping & Caravanning Club CS instead? Both CLs and CSs sound like just the ticket for your requirements. You do have to be a member, though, but then you're free to visit as many as you like... and they're usually very cheap!
