Have been to Blackpool a couple of times and once parked on the front with the motor-home, have been told you cant do that during the illuminations, does anyone know for sure, it's a bit difficult getting into camp sites so late in the day.

Hello ssusan. There are now parking meters all the way from the Pleasure Beach to the Manchester Hotel: then "double yellers" on the Golden Mile to beyond the North Pier. You could park on the prom at Cleveleys(entrance opposite the Norbreck Hydro hotel.Best to use a site though...you should get in midweek.

To park on Blackpool front you will have to pay at the meters or get a fine. There is a cheaper car park at Squires Gate where you could pay for over night parking but please check the sign as some will not allow over night parking of motor homes. I would be careful parking on the prom maybe try one of the side street of prom. Clevelys prom is any idea but not sure of Wyre Councils policy on Motorhomes parking on road over night. Have a look on www.blackpool.gov.uk under parking and see what the rules are.
Thank's all, I think we will park of one of the side streets as we're meeting family and will no doubt have a few drinks with them so wont be able to drive of at the end of the night.
Susan

My own personal feelings on Blackpool is that it is very anti- motorhome and do not want them there. Considering the 1000s of B&Bs there you can understand the resentment. I stopped going there years ago because of that atitude , and the bracing air that cuts you in half. lol. kiev

But when you look at the dire state of most B&B and hotel accomodation.................
Sorry but Blackpool isn't just made up of B&B's (yes some are awful) and I would disagree at it being anti Motor Homes is that because there are barries on most car parks....we have the same problems with our Defender not fitting under height restrictions but always manage to find somewhere to park. Blackpool has some lovely parts...Stanley Park, the zoo, herons reach, south prom has all been redone and does not attract the yob element....the prom is under going a big revamp.
Lots of motorhomes on the front the 2nd weekend of the lights when we went. They where on parking meter points and where brewing up and cooking not sure if they stayed the night but alot looked very comfy!!
Hi if your looking for a camp site thats not crowded during the illuminations try the Chippendales caravan park (its in your Big sites book of c/cc) its 12pounds a night and as hook-up, showers, washing machine, drier, microwave, etc. I could go on.. Been there many times and its a 10min drive into blackpool and 10mins into st. annes.
I go to fleetwood and blackpool most weeks as I have family there, I took my 3 year old grandaugter through the lights on sunday, there were a few campervans parked up with gas bottles and bikes covered up etc, but that was at Bispham end, just before the lights start, If you follow the tramlines down you will see ldle turn left and bobs your uncle,no meters there,
