Just posted about the Igloo Marine coolers, so thought I would let folk know about this as well. It's a limited edition and it's in nice shiny chrome (or maybe stainless steel??). It's only £16.78, so definitely worth it if you don't mind battery lanterns. Batteries last up to 30hrs, so could last for a week if you were careful. It's very big and quite heavy, but it seems solid and quite robust. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has one of these as I'm tempted to go back and get one!

I can't seem to find a pic on the net, so will have to make do with the one I took on my phone.

Tracey

PS: I noticed they are already flogging these on EvilBay for £30

Forget lamps using regular LED's, now that Cree LED's are hitting the market, I would hang fire for a lamp using this technology, I just bought a couple of Cree torch's from Lidl, at around 150 Lumen single LED they are uber bright, not bad at £10 a pop.

Yes saw the torches - but how long will it take till the lamps are available? And how much will they be?.....a lot more than £17 I bet! Anyway, I'm not in the market for a lamp, just thought this was a good buy and looks pretty good to boot, but each to their own and all that!

Hi Tracey.
I picked up a couple of the Aldi 20 LED remote control lanterns, a couple of years back, £10 each at the time, we run them of rechargeable LR20 "D cell" batteries, they seem to run for ages on one charge, and to be fair give of a nice glow, just about bright enough to read from.

Downside to the Cree LED lights would be run time, the Lidl torch on full tilt, only runs for 4 hours, so if used for a lantern then rechargeable batteries or EHU would be the best way to run them, although the Aldi torch uses "AAA" batteries so I guess a lantern using LR20 "D cell" batteries would increase the run time to around 20hrs.

Andy.
