Being new to tourers we decfided to buy a new portable telly instead of taking the spare old one from home, we trawled the shops and internet for a reasonbly priced one but couldnt find one that was HD ready and digital that was ok for touring for under £200 so gave up looking, then we called in our local ''poundland'' and they had BUSCH 15'' flat screen tv with built in dvd players hd ready and weighing only 3kg for £125 bargain. Tried it out last w/end ... perfect, kept my little neice entertained for hours.works well with our status aerial so jobs a good 'un,

Ok if you have an electric hookup but not so good on 12v. I bought a Roadstar which is dual voltage and has a DVD/CD player. Didnt get it for the bargain price that you paid though, it was about £180 as I recall

I take our laptop so I can download all our holiday photos onto it. It doubles up as a DVD player if the weather is bad and we recently got a Freeview dongle so as long as we can get reception, we can watch the News and Weather forecasts while away as well.

I had that idea bough a hauppauge USB TV Dongle, It couldnt even pickup a freeview signal on the house aeriel, took it straight back.

The picture on my laptop is far superior to the picture on our cheap combined tv/dvd.  These items are put out cheap because they are built to a price.  Viewing angles for a decent picture are restricted.

i wonder why they are sticking freeview in "HD" (when i say HD most are not)tellies its like buying a sports car and never going faster than 30mph

Hi All,

I've very interested in trying to get TV through my laptop when camping. Those mini/portable TVs are so expensive, even second hand on E-Bay.

I found this thread on a forum, which links to a site that reviews and recommends the best digital aerials. It also offers a few tips on how to get a better reception using a USB dongle.

Hope this helps someone.

yes but most have terrestrial freeview as standard
