This is similar to the boxes that a lot of motorhomers have on the backs of their vans - I think a lot of people have built them themselves.
Looks a good idea for tenters/motorhomers but I don't think it would be a good idea to put one on the back of a caravan. IMHO it would upset the stability. The only caravans I've ever seen with towballs are showmens. Anyway, why on earth would you want to? The bathroom in the caravan has plenty of space to store the chairs, tables, awning etc.
Bear in mind that they couldn't be used for anything really heavy on a lot of cars because of exceeding the towball limit given by the manufacturer.
Given the choice of this, a trailer or topbox, I would go for the autobox. Less hassle than a trailer & better fuel economy than a top box.
