Tbh, you aren't going to get much for the money. Have you considered getting something like an igloo coolbox. Just stick some ice in and will keep things cold for 3 to 5 days. Most campsites will help with freezer packs . Bought my igloo for £50 and I get the money back by not having to pay for hook up

We bought one from Aldi a month or more ago. Works off mains and car battery, everything built in, no need for external power units, etc..
Has two settings and when running on eco it is very quiet.
I think it was about £40, wife has a box with all receipts but I can't find it..lol but sure that was all it cost.
It is also made by the largest maker of these things, so the warranty is solid.

Ours is a Royal. This is our 4th year of using it, although we use it 3/4 times a year. We've had it running for 7 days at a time and it has always kept our food fresh and cold. I think it was about £40ish from Go Outdoors.

My view on coolboxes is. Work out at what temperature you're likely to use them in and go from there.

The Coleman one I was looking at offered 'up to' 20 degrees below ambient temperature. If its 20 degrees in your tent the you get up to freezing point. 30 degrees and you're looking at 10+ degrees which personal put me off.

Coleman xtreme or similar for me. No hook up and days and days of cold up to five days at 30 odd degrees. Think about it!

Take a good look on ebay etc and see if you can get a 3 way fridge secondhand. We have one and it works a treat even making ice.We bought one for £50 but this time of year they do tend to go for more as everyone wants them.

i have an old 3 way electric coolbox, works well enough in the car or on ehu, put it on the gas and it almost instantly turns into a freezer! needs to be a hot day on the lowest setting to become a fridge again lol.

love me chuck it in the car go to the supermarket and fill it up and bring it back to site. its not huge and the way in which you pack them makes a huge difference would not be without mine.

Clicky --> Halfords 40L. Job Done.

Ours works fine and it is £5 cheaper than when I got it last April!

The halfords box only cools to 16oC below ambient. Not much good for the summer. IMHO, I think you need at least 23 below for it to be ok

Outdoor megastore are doing the Coleman 24ltr (in a dashing green) leccy coolboxes for £39

I nearly bought one before deciding to go the Coleman xtreme route as they seemed solid and claim up to -20 below ambient. 12volt ciggy lighter or 240 mains options.

Still strongly consider the non electric option though.

hi

we've got a non electric one and one that runs on mains and from the car

i found the electric one

needs 2 days pre cooling at home, needs to be plugged into a supply each day for at least part of the day, this ok if you have EHU, but if no EHU, we have to put it back in the car and take it off site with us (not to loose life in car battery)

non electric one, needs big pre frozen ice packs and frozen meals, the wet t towel trick and a breeze, but we can get 4/5 days and still have cold food, milk etc

so, i suppose it depends on what type of camper you are and do, what facilities you can use on site and if you need another EHU item on your camping list.

Soak a towel in cold water and then cover your cool box with it, trying to keep it in the shade at all times and re-soaking the towel as required.

We're going tomorrow for the weekend, no electric on site so have to use a passive box. I freeze as much as I can: fruit juice, milk, meat, 2 litre bottles of water and cool packs. We've got a Kampa Evo Ice House cool box which will keeps food cold for several days. We should still be able to have cool milk for breakfast on Sunday if we pack it right and use the wet towel trick
