We are looking at Camping Playa Joyel near Noja in Northern Spain for June next year and would be interested in peoples experiences of this site and the local area.

We went there Summer 2007 .  Excellent place.  We had been flooded further up the coast at Zaroutz.  This  place was great.  Clean, spacious.  Right on the beach.  Close enough to town to walk in for a meal.  There is a wild animal park on site open to campers on certain days.  Animals (llamas, donkeys, deer etc.) will eat from your hand.  Would certainly go back.

I can only agree with the posts above; the site staff have always been great, even during some horrible holiday moments.

The site is excellent, clean and well maintained, and very quiet by midnight. Its a lovely spot to mix with the Spanish, and its a very Spanish "resort": you'll struggle to find a "European" style restaurant in the town.

Thw whole atmosphere at Noja is relaxed, its not a bussleing holiday resort, even ateh height of the season. The surrounding area reminds us of the Yorkshire Dales on a hot summers day.

The beach is huge, and only fine sand (no stony bits). A river inlet provides interest for the kids, and is warmer than the Atlantic. The pool is super, clean and well supervised. Swim caps are essential.

The only words of caution are  the weather. It can be quite "cold" and wet, so take some appropriate clothes. Also take bikes, its a long way to tthe shop for croissant every morning..but they are cooked on site.

We can thoroughly reccommend the site, it takes a couple of days to settle into it, but its well worthwhile. And only 20 minutes from Santander ferry, which itself is gorgeous.
