Now i know this has been done to death, but i was looking at a few sites in France that were reccomended from another thread i put up.

It appears as all these sites are Speedos only, and at 22 stone A: i dont think i will find any that fit me and B: i cant torture myself or other people with that sight. LOL

So the new plan is Northern Spain or Northern Italy. I can cope with wearing a swimming cap because thankfully i dont have a fat head!!

We are looking for a site with loads of stuff for an 8 year old i.e a water park type swimming pool with slides and climbing frames E.g www.isolino.it/en which seems ok, has anyone stayed there?

Budget upto about £600 for 2 weeks. Its a camping pitch with electric we are looking for, and would like some evening entertainment, but not too late.

And thanks to all those who contributed on my other thread, and we would still consider France if i was sure Budgie smugglers werent needed!!

Edit to add

We were originally looking from the 18th July for 2 weeks, but work wont let me have those dates, so we are now taking my son out of school a week early. Actual dates we will want the site are Monday 14th July until Friday 25th July.‎

Hey daleyboy, don't beet yourself up about the Speedos, I have seen German blokes that make you look like twiggy, at the poolside in there Speedo's.

No one cares, believe me, I were the Speedo Trunk type, they are a little more forgiving, I just go for a swim and don't think about it, and I am far from being Slim.

When you say speedo trunk type, what do you mean?

Would these be allowed?

Yes, usually they are OK - tightly fitted lycra shorts, rather than the real brief speedos beloved of Australian models!  However, there are lots of sites which permit ordinary swimming shorts and I'm sure someone could recommend such a site if you indicated which area would be a favourite!

Here we go daleyboy, these are what I have, Speedo Endurance+  they do them in decent sizes for us bigger blokes, but if not there must be loads of other brands out there that do a similiar thing.

NB don't be thinking that's me in the photo folks!.

Haha,

If i wore those my muffin top would be massive. It would look like i already had a life ring round me.

I really dont think i would feel comfortable wearing those, and my 8 year old said there is no way he is wearing speedos either. Even my good wife started laughing when i just showed her that picture.

So there is no way i can go speedo route, so it has to be normal shorts friendly or Spain or Italy.

Have you thought about going to a site on a lake, like this one?
We stayed nearly a week and didn't go to the pool at all because the beach was lovely and the lake was fabulous for swimming. You can wear what you like. Or not wear much if you like. Swim in shorts and t-shirts.
There are lots of lake and riverside sites where you don't have to wear speedos.

Les Ecureils at St Hilaire de Riez dont insist on trunks...but hey...I'm a big woman and I have to wear a tight fitting swimming cossie...us girls don't have any other option...just get on with it, no-one cares...and it's not as if you're going to know anyone is it?

Get those trunks on and strut your stuff with confidence. Have you seen the southern comfort ad? I think the bloke in that is phwooooaarh...lol.

I always wonder what it is that men have about wearing speedos - as Veema says, we ladies don't have a choice.  But then I wouldn't laugh at my OH - I think he looks great in his speedos (even the brief ones) nor would he laugh at me. If we told our men they looked wonderful perhaps they would start to become more confident wearing skimpy gear such as we have to wear.

Though I suppose we could go back to the female equivalent of Bermuda shorts:

You don't have to wear speedos in pools at French naturist campsites...the end.

Hi daleyboy,

Every year we go to a fantastic campsite on the SW coast near Bordeaux. You are a couple of miles from the beach so you can wear what you like there!

It also has a lovely pool and the owner is not bothered what you wear. There are loads of sites around. Forget the speedos because I would not be seen dead in them!! Happy holiday hunting.

The French think rules are there for breaking. We are in France now and there are kids in the pool in shorts despite the no shorts signs, and the pool is supervised. There are also French people, with their dogs, on the beach here, despite the big signs saying No Dogs

But similarly, we have been on at least 2 sites where I've seen blokes hoiked out the pool because they aren't wearing the appropriate swimwear...
