Still looking at various sites in and around Vendee. I know both these sites get good reviews but was just wondering if there's much difference between them? Looking for spacious pitches, good pool complex, quiet at night, nice family orientated site.
Is there a town or village within walking distance?

Le Pin is in the middle of the countryside. The nearest village ( Coex ) is about 15 minutes away by car.
It has a lovely pool complex and very family orientated, clubs on for the children with many activites.
Night time there is a silent rule 10 pm no loud noises etc, the owners Celine and Patrice will walk round the site telling you to keep the noise down.
Cant comment on La Guyonniere never been there, again i have heard good reports about it.
( I have been to Le Pin a few times ) not everyone like Le Pin but we do.
Hi Smiledmb. Thanks for the reply. Was a little concerned about some of the comments re groups of teenagers, and some noise (not necessarily from teenagers) until early hours. Have you experienced this at all? Do they patrol at night?

we spent a few nights at Pin Parasol and the pitches in the area we were pitched werent as spacious as other french sites. We did look at La Guy, huge pitches, much more rustic and natural looking but OH didnt like the access road. Very bumpy and really in need of resurfacing. He said he wouldnt tow our van down that road!! It looked a bit sparce and basic to us, very different to Le Pin. If pitch size is important to you I would say go with La Guy.
The pool at Le Pin is lovely, facilities immaculate but we just found it too manicured and lacking atmosphere. We were surrounded by fellow Brits. We wouldnt go back, poor shop too.

we certainly found Le Pin lovely and quiet at night. The site dosent provide loo roll, I dont like that, some arent bothered by it. Off topic but the stars were fantastic on the clear nights.

We went to Le Pin last July (school hols), 2 families with children aged 3,10,14. They loved it. Couldnt get them out of the pool and the young ones loved the childrens activities. Our pitches were huge compared to the next French site we stayed on. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and for the 2 weeks we where there we where never bothered by noise at night at all. The shop is small but got things we needed while out and about! We found all the staff very helpful and friendly.
OH really likes the "neat " look of Le Pin and the quiet at night rule too. I'm not too bothered personally but would be a bit worried about bumpy road to La Guy, so it looks like Le Pin might just be ahead.

We went to Le Pin for 5 years in a row. We found it to be a lovely site, our 2 lads were aged then 12 and 14 years made many friends.
Just make sure you hubby takes proper trunks like these http://www.sportsdirect.com/slazenger-gbr-swim-boxer-mens-352131 Swim shorts are not allowed.

Thanks. He bought a pair a couple of years ago when we first heard about the "no shorts" French rule. He actually quite likes them cos you don't have all the cold wet material flapping around your legs like you do with the shorts.
Any idea if we should book? Or risk just phoning the day before? Planning on arriving on 19th August.
When we've been at la guy there have been groups of youngsters a couple of times, but as soon as security are aware of them they disappear and it's quiet again. This has only been a couple of times over 4 Weeks in total.
The bumpy road...Mmmmm.... we've been up and down it many times and it isn't that bad!!! It's not lots of pot holes or anything. If I hadn't heard on here it's a bumpy road I wouldn't even have thought twice about it.
The site has load of space, is very relaxing, and the staff go out of their way to help. It's not a party site, it's not an immaculate site at all, but everyone that stays there appears to go back.....that speaks lots :)
It is quite a rustic site, and yes I have seen the road dusty...but the weather was fabulously sunny and they'd had no rain for days so what can you expect in the middle of the French countryside really
It's gone from 3 to 5 stars last year.
