We have never been to Brittany before but we're keen to try it this summer.

Can anyone please recommend a good family campsite, preferably somewhere with waterslides? We are looking for a quiet campsite with good facilities for kids (they're 5 and 9).

Camping de Keranterec looks good, so does Mane Guernehue and Penboch but I don't know anybody who has used them.
Any comments would be much appreciated.

Like yourself,my family and I are new to the French scene, and have booked L'Atlantique for late August.

Our 2 kids are,or will be,14 and 9,and from what we have seen and read,it seems good enough.

Ken.

I should be on commission!!!

www.campinglebohat.com

No slides but two pools ,a trampoline ,play equipment ,goats and activities for the kids in the season

The managers (her parents own it) are very pleasant and speak good English and have young children of their own

There are lots of beaches nearby as its on peninsula (Presqu'ile de Quiberon)

Many thanks for the advice, John. Le Bohat's prices look reasonable compared to the bigger sites (we are going to rent a mobile) but my boys are very keen on waterslides. But the trampoline might be good........

My friends family came out last year and stayed in one of the mobiles so we had a good look at them

They are UPVC and very new and very clean

There are two types :one with a veranda

They enjoyed it so much that they have booked for this year at the same time that we will be on the C & CC Rally there in May/June

I have been to camping Atlantique (Beg Meil) three times now the place is superb.

Great pools/water slides for the kids and a simply brilliant beach through a woodland pathway.

Good bar area and food take away shop. Entertainment for all throughout the season.

So many places to visit too Concareau is a must for the shopping. Enter the walled castle to discover dozens of small shops and eateries

Love the place.

To find it on the map place your ruler verticaly at Roscoff. Due South is Beg Meil

Ohhhhhhh I want to go again now.

I've been to L'Atlantique too, lovely site, but we had a Canvas tent and the pitch was tiny!

Hi there

Hi there

we have 2 kids (7+4) and spent ages looking for a smaller/informal campsite in Brittany wanted a pool and basics but not all night disco! (aren't we sad... must be age catching up!) anyway eventually came up with Keranterec which is inbetween Fouesnant and Concarneau - direct access to a beach - not used by Eurocamp or the like although does feature in Alan Rogers who were most helpful with advise

web site is www.camping-keranterec.com

Narrowed choice down to four camp sites in the same area including camping le Raguenenes Plage (camping-le-raguenes-plage.com)  / Les Pres Verts (www.presverts.com)   and Le panoramic (www.camping-panoramic.com) tough call between all so let the children have the final choice!! (they of course went by the size of the water slide!) Really lots to choose from!

Have fun looking around - don't get too hooked on searching!

Nicky

This is our favourite French campsite - it is Dol de Bretagne about 30 mins from St Malo and 2 hours from Cherbourg

http://www.lesormes.com/vacances-bretagne/location-vacances/hebergements/hebergements_bretagne.asp

All the big companies are there Canvas, Eurocamp, Keycamp etc and it is a very big site but it is good and well spread out. Great pool complex (new leisure pool with slides etc and 3 original rectangular pools), boating lake with pedalos, stables, golf, crazy golf, bar, restaurant, shop, play areas, entertainment etc.  It is well run with plenty of regularly cleaned toilet blocks.  Because it is a big site it can be a little noisy but the due to the spacing it sounds distant and does quieten down around 11ish.

Plenty to do in the area - Mont St Michel, Mysteries de lar Mer (think Sea Life centres but much better), nice beaches (especially Dinard which is a beautiful victorian style resort), quaint towns (St Malo old town, Dinan, Dol itself) etc.

Went to Camping Atlantic last year with Canvas and we too thought the pitches were a bit small (not restricted to Canvas however - won't hear a bad word said against them).  Also in all the brochures, this site carries the largest site supplement which in my opinion is unwarranted when compared to the above.  Washing up water was always tepid, pitches are small and it was quite noisy into the night.  Nice pool complex and handy for the beach though with direct access - not that we got there with all the rain last year !

Look at Haven Europe - and the Siblu parcs. They allow camping, and youo have all the Haven facilities.

Hi

We're heading to De La Plage near La Trinite-sur-Mer again this year - great for young kids (ours were 2, 6 & 7 last year) http://www.camping-plage.com/

Best thing for us is being able to walk straight onto a great beach. Another site with same owners right next door called La Baie.

If interested you should find my write up in the archive if you use the camp site name to search on.
