Woke up this morning and went to turn on the gas for the hot water, nothing! Switched on the hot plates, nothing. Went and checked outside and the gas bottle and regulator were gone! During the night some low life had come along and cut through the feed to the 19kg bottle which connected on the outside of the caravan and nicked them. They didn't even disturb the 4 dogs in the caravan. The bottle was almost full as we had used it only 6 times for cooking having collected it on the previous Friday. Obviously we were being watched as the bottle stood disconnected outside the caravan for a whole week. This is supposed to be on what is rated as a 5 star caravan site and is probably well known to a number of you.
I am now considering purchasing one of those cable alarms where one can hook up a number of items as we also have our satellite dish outside and the water barrells. Probably also buy a small safe to install somewhere in the caravan but I don't know where there is a spot where it can be fixed down onto the chassis to prevent removal of the whole safe. Any suggestions overall?
PS.
Just tried to fit the new regulator onto the hose and what a palavar! I tried Fairy liquid, cooking oil and also some cream as no vaseline in the caravan. Got it partly on and the used a clamp to really tightened it up. However on the weekend in the daylight I guess I will need to take it off again and see if I can push it on further. The new gas bottle, a 13kg is now safely in the front locker so if they go for that it will make quite noise when opening the front locker cover. I can only hope!
Got the cable alarm so if they try to nick the satellite dish and tripod they may get a bit of a fright. It's bloody loud!
